New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is expected to be a full participant in the team\u2019s offseason program after suffering a late-season injury to his right throwing shoulder.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s fine. He\u2019s ready to go,\u201d executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf said Monday on the Up & Adams Show. \u201cFocusing on getting some improvement on some of the areas we identified. Expect him to be full participant in the offseason program.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maye suffered the injury on a 13-yard scramble in the AFC Championship Game, when Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga landed hard on top of him driving his right arm into the ground. After appearing on the injury report ahead of Super Bowl LX, Maye required a pain-killing injection to the shoulder prior to kickoff.<\/p>\n
Before departing for the offseason, Maye said the injury would not require surgery.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust get some time off. Time\u2019s the best healer, and definitely just need time off,\u201d he said. \u201cNothing that needs anything to be done. Just some time away, time to get some rest and just time away from football.\u201d<\/p>\n
As Wolf indicated, the injury has not seemed to impact Maye\u2019s offseason work. The quarterback held a throwing session earlier this month at Florida Atlantic University with wide receivers Kyle Williams, DeMario Douglas and Mack Hollins in attendance.<\/p>\n
