The Dallas Cowboys<\/a> and wide receiver George Pickens have yet to agree on a long-term contract extension, as the young playmaker is still on the nonexclusive franchise tag that Dallas placed on him on February 27.<\/a><\/p>\n

With no signals pointing to Pickens receiving a new deal from the Cowboys, head coach Brian Schottenheimer questions whether the star receiver will be in attendance at the team’s offseason workouts that are set to kick off in just a few weeks.<\/p>\n

“And I haven’t pushed that on him,” Schottenheimer said from the NFL meetings in Phoenix via Todd Archer of ESPN<\/a>. “I mean, again, we’re all going through the process.”<\/p>\n

“It’s almost April. We’re still a couple weeks away. It’s going to play out the way it plays out. Again, it’s all voluntary. We’ll see where it goes.”<\/p>\n

Pickens is coming off a breakout season in 2025 with 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors.<\/p>\n

However, it looks like Dallas is hesitant to commit to a long-term extension with Pickens after just one spectacular season, and the 25-year-old has had his fair share of off-the-field issues.<\/a><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the possibility of Pickens being absent from the Cowboys’ offseason workouts could be another step towards his possible exit from Dallas, especially if he doesn’t get the extension he wants.<\/p>\n

That would be great news for the New England Patriots<\/a>, Las Vegas Raiders<\/a>, and Los Angeles Chargers<\/a>, as all three teams could make a move for Pickens to upgrade their receiver rooms for 2026.<\/p>\n
