Payton isn\u2019t a good coach at all when it comes to a clutch gene, because there is no coach that can coach that.\u201d<\/p>\nCertain guys \u201cjust have it,\u201d says Plummer, who led 24 fourth-quarter comebacks and 30 game-winning drives in his 10-season NFL career, the last four in Denver.<\/p>\n
\u201cBo has the clutch gene. That comes from the player,\u201d Plummer added. \u201cThat comes from the DNA inside Bo. Certain guys just have it.\u201d<\/p>\n
In fact, Nix actually led the NFL with a record-setting 12 come-from-behind wins in the Broncos\u2019 2025 season, including six fourth-quarter comebacks (one in the playoffs).<\/p>\n
\u201cHe scrambles, is smart with the ball. He\u2019s way smarter with the ball than I ever was, even in Year 2,\u201d Plummer said. \u201cThere is not much he needs to improve upon, other than getting the ball out on time and even anticipating more.\u201d<\/p>\n
And to help with that, former quarterbacks coach and new offensive coordinator Davis Webb will be the key.<\/p>\n
Because Webb was the key to Nix having as much success as he did his first two years, says Plummer.<\/p>\n

Plummer noted that the way Nix responded to Webb\u2019s instruction was obvious in the game outcomes.<\/p>\n

\u201dHe can throw the ball anywhere, any way, and he\u2019s very accurate when his feet are set and when his feet are not set,\u201d Plummer pointed out. \u201cMultiple times this year we saw him (hesitate) and then go to the same guy. Then it\u2019s not as good of a play. It\u2019s batted down, or it\u2019s just a reception instead of a catch and turn. Those big plays we were lacking.\u201d<\/p>\n
But it wasn\u2019t all on Nix.<\/p>\n
The Broncos needed more weapons for the quarterback as well, Plummer added.<\/p>\n
\u201dThey\u2019re going to add some weapons to the offense. They have to,\u201d Plummer told Casino Guru before news broke about the trade for Jaylen Waddle.<\/p>\n
