The health and future of left tackle Broderick Jones have been a concern for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But fortunately for the Black and Gold, there appear to be some recent positive developments.<\/p>\n
Steelers GM Omar Khan told Arizona media at the NFL Owners meetings Monday that Jones\u2019 rehab is progressing. He suffered a neck injury in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears, ending his season and requiring surgery.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s starting to do more and more. Khan stated that Jones\u2019 2026 prognosis was a \u201cgood question\u201d and his health was something the franchise was monitoring ahead of deciding on his fifth-year option.<\/p>\n With Jones out of the lineup late in the season, Dylan Cook stepped up and played some solid football down the stretch. However, in the AFC Wild Card blowout loss against the Houston Texans, Cook struggled in pass protection against Houston\u2019s dominant front.<\/p>\n This offseason, left tackle has been a point of contention, especially with new offensive line coaches James Campen and Jahri Evans. With Jones\u2019 uncertain health and status, and Cook being relatively inexperienced and raw, left tackle is a potential need.<\/p>\n The Steelers didn\u2019t sign a veteran. Instead, they cut Calvin Anderson, which has led to analysts projecting a tackle as a potential first-round pick<\/a>.<\/p>\n We\u2019ll see what transpires at tackle over the next month or so. But Khan\u2019s answer on Monday regarding Jones is some positive news this offseason.<\/p>\n
