Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batc<\/a>h speculated recently that the delay in Aaron Rodgers<\/a>\u2019 decision was contractual. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a guy who outplayed his contract,\u201d Batch said on The Snap Count podcast<\/a>. \u201cThis decision is coming down to money. The Steelers would like him to come back, but it\u2019s not going to be at the $13 million number. I\u2019m sure Aaron, and I haven\u2019t spoken to him, but I\u2019m sure his representatives are wanting something closer to $30 [million], and you hope that, somewhere, you meet in the middle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Batch\u2019s theory is incorrect, however, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt does sound like the Rodgers thing in Pittsburgh is happening. [He] and McCarthy are talking every day. Why are they talking every day if he\u2019s not going back? It just is not official. It\u2019s not contractual, I was told. I don\u2019t know where they\u2019re at, it\u2019s just, it\u2019s Aaron being Aaron,\u201d Schefter said Tuesday on The Pat McAfee Show<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Rodgers\u2019 \u201ctakes two to tango\u201d comment on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this month started the speculation that he wants a better offer from the Steelers. Rodgers signed a one-year contract with the Steelers worth $13.65 million last year, which included $10 million in guaranteed money.<\/p>\n

Rodgers, who will turn 43 next season, went 10-6 as the Steelers\u2019 starting passer last season, throwing for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions.<\/p>\n

Former Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison thinks the four-time NFL MVP quarterback deserves a significant pay raise<\/a> from the Steelers.<\/p>\n

\u201cAaron is not going to make a decision until you give this man numbers. Because he'(s) not coming back for what he came back for last year. Period. I believe he\u2019ll retire before he comes back for what came back for last year. \u2026 He saved our ass last year. You kind of owe the man some back pay,\u201d Harrison said on the Deebo & Joe podcast.<\/p>\n

Steelers president Art Rooney II gave the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette\u2019s Gerry Dulac somewhat of an update on the team\u2019s timeline while at the NFL Owners Meetings in Phoenix.<\/p>\n

\u201cI still expect that,\u201d Rooney told Dulac<\/a>. \u201cI expect we\u2019ll get an answer before the draft.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rodgers did not sign with the Steelers until June last year. If \u201cAaron is being Aaron\u201d like Schefter said, it could be a similar case this year. All signs point<\/a> to Rodgers returning to Pittsburgh, however. The only question is when. <\/p>\n
