After cutting ties with Tyreek Hill and trading Jaylen Waddle, their WR1 and WR2 from last season are gone.

As a result, there’s serious concern about who Dolphins QB Malik Willis will be throwing to in the upcoming 2026 NFL season. With so many draft picks in April’s draft, all signs point to Miami using the capital to land a wide receiver or two.

Nonetheless, the question is which player Miami could take and whether it will be in the first round or perhaps on Day 2. ESPN’s Matt Bowen believes that the wideout who fits the Dolphins is former Washington Huskies star Denzel Boston.

“The Dolphins could opt for a wide receiver at No. 10, but Boston should be on the board for them with their second pick of the first round. Boston’s large frame would allow him to emerge early as a volume target for new quarterback Malik Willis,” Bowen wrote in his article published on March 31.

“He has the physical catch-and-run ability to produce on quicks and unders, while giving the Dolphins a matchup target inside the red zone. Boston had 14 red zone touchdowns over his final two collegiate seasons. With the ball skills to win one-on-one, Boston could also isolate for this Miami offense in critical down-and-distance situations.”

Last season with the Huskies, Boston finished with an overall PFF grade of 87.7, ranking 14th among 679 qualified receivers, while his receiving grade of 86.6 ranked 25th.

Moreover, Boston caught 56 passes on 86 targets, totaling 755 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averaged 13.5 yards per reception and added 246 yards after the catch.

Jeff Hafley: Dolphins Intend to Bolster WR Group

Despite the concerns regarding Miami’s wide receiver room, Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley shared good news for Willis, noting that the team intends to bolster the wide receiver group to ensure their new QB has the weapons needed to succeed in the 2026 NFL season.

“He’s going to throw the ball to some good players,” Hafley told Kay Adams on the March 30 edition of “Up & Adams.” “We’ve got, we’ve got a bunch of good guys coming back, a bunch of guys that we signed, and we’ve got a lot of draft picks, a lot of them.

“We’ve got seven in the first 100 picks. We’ll have receivers for Malik to throw to. The next time you talk after the draft and as we get the players here, I think you’re going to see we’ll get some good ones for him to throw to.”

Should Miami Consider Drafting Jordyn Tyson?

While Bowen believes Boston is the right fit for Miami, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton sees former Arizona State Sun Devils standout Jordyn Tyson as the ideal draft target for the Dolphins.

“With Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell and Malik Washington atop their receiver depth chart, the Dolphins are likely to take a top prospect at the position with one of their two first-round picks. It’s a must to help quarterback Malik Willis, who’s preparing to be a full-time starter for the first time in his career,“ Moton wrote in his article published on March 24.

“Jordyn Tyson could slip in the draft because of his history of injuries. So, Miami may have multiple opportunities to take him in the first round. He missed a few games in the previous season due to a balky hamstring, but he still caught 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns.”

Eduardo Razo Eduardo Razo is a sports writer for Heavy.com, covering the NFL, MLB, and college football.
