In some ways, that applies to Pat McAfee as well.<\/p>\n
McAfee\u2019s show was broadcasting live from the NFL owners\u2019 meetings on Tuesday. Among the guests who stopped by was ESPN NFL insider Peter Schrager, who shared his appreciation for seeing McAfee and his cohorts at an NFL mixer the night before.\u00a0 As part of that conversation, Schrager asked McAfee if he\u2019d gotten a chance to chat<\/a> with ESPN\u00a0Monday Night Football\u00a0analyst Troy Aikman. Not only had McAfee not, but it opened the door for him to air his grievance over trying and failing to get Aikman to appear on the \u2018progrum.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know how we are with Troy, I\u2019m gonna be honest,\u201d said McAfee. \u201cI like him.\u201d<\/p>\n McAfee added that he\u2019d spent some time speaking with Aikman\u2019s MNF partner, Joe Buck, but then circled back to why he hasn\u2019t been able to touch base with the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback.<\/p>\n \u201cTroy [Aikman] never comes on our show. Then, Rich Eisen\u2019s first day on ESPN at noon, he\u2019s on the show<\/a>,\u201d said McAfee. \u201cSo, Troy always tells us, \u2018Can\u2019t do it noon. Sorry, it\u2019s impossible.\u2019 First day Rich [Eisen] is on, Troy\u2019s like, \u2018Get me on that phone.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Everyone chuckled, but you don\u2019t have to be a Pat McAfee Whisperer to know there\u2019s a legitimate gripe in there.<\/p>\n \u201cI won\u2019t take it as a personal heat,\u201d McAfee added. \u201cBut I do not know, and we don\u2019t know Troy like that.\u201d<\/p>\n Aikman has been enjoying a second wind in his \u201cgive no f*cks\u201d era<\/a> as an NFL broadcaster, but there have been times when he\u2019s been perceived as persnickety by some<\/a> (even Buck has admitted he can be \u201cintense\u201d at first<\/a>), and he\u2019s been known to hold a grudge or two<\/a>. For what it\u2019s worth, we are not aware of any inherent reason he would dislike McAfee.<\/p>\n Not to be lost in the Aikman jab is McAfee\u2019s mention of Rich Eisen, whose show subs in the Pat McAfee Show timeslot when they\u2019re on hiatus<\/a>. McAfee has previously \u201cjoked\u201d about whether ESPN was sending him a message<\/a> by bringing Eisen back into the fold, given the timing of his program. And if we\u2019ve learned anything about McAfee during his time with ESPN, it\u2019s that he wears his annoyances<\/a>, concerns<\/a>, and dislikes<\/a> on his sleeves (or in his case, sleeveless arms<\/a>).<\/p>\n This interlude certainly won\u2019t go unnoticed, so now we wait to see if Aikman magically appears on TPMS this NFL season or if the stalemate continues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The tagline for the 2004 horror film The Grudge was \u201cIt never forgives.
