Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is getting a positive push to join one NFL team in need of a signal-caller.<\/p>\n
Former Minnesota Vikings<\/a> quarterback Kirk Cousins<\/a> is a free agent, and even though he\u2019s expensive, he\u2019s one of the top quarterbacks still available during this NFL<\/a> free agency period. Cousins was with the Atlanta Falcons<\/a> for the 2025-26 season<\/a>, but he parted ways with the team in NFL free agency, so he\u2019s available and teams are showing interest, especially those who need a seasoned signal-caller.<\/p>\n Cousins hasn\u2019t landed a deal yet, but as the 2026-27 NFL season<\/a> draws closer and the need for a veteran quarterback grows among teams, he\u2019ll be getting phone calls. Not that he hasn\u2019t been fielding phone calls yet. Cousins has been talking to teams during the offseason, but nothing is solid yet.<\/p>\n Now, one NFL analyst and commentator would like to see Cousins with a particular team. It\u2019s a team that may be in great need of an instant quarterback fix soon, too.<\/p>\n Kirk Cousins Gets Glowing Endorsement for New NFL Team<\/p>\n In the\u00a02025-26 season with the Atlanta Falcons, Cousins notched 1,721 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns and five interceptions with a 61.7 percent completion rate and an 84.8 passer rating, according to research from ESPN<\/a>, during 10 NFL games with the team. That\u2019s enough to get franchises interested, especially if they are in desperate need for a quarterback fix.<\/p>\n One of the teams who may need a quarterback is the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>. If Aaron Rodgers decides to not return for the 2026-27 season, they\u2019ll need another signal-caller quickly.<\/p>\n Sports commentator Skip Bayless is all for Cousins joining the Steelers. He\u2019s had it with Rodgers\u2019 drama.\u00a0During a Friday, March 27 podcast appearance on \u201cThe Arena: Gridiron,\u201d<\/a> Bayless talked about Rodgers and said he was over the quarterback. He also said that he would take Cousins over Rodgers for the Steelers.<\/p>\n \u201cAaron Rodgers\u2019 legacy does not belong in the same stratosphere with Tom Brady\u2019s legacy,\u201d he said. \u201cAaron Rodgers has been done for five years. Nobody will accept it, because they just keep giving him chance after chance after chance.\u201d<\/p>\n He also added, \u201cI would take Kirk Cousins right now over Aaron Rodgers. Kirk was pretty good last year.\u201d So, consider that a thumbs-up for Cousins from Bayless.<\/p>\n Ex-Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Kirk Cousins Gives Health Update<\/p>\n So, Bayless is sold on Cousins, and one benefit of having him signed is that he could start working with the team now. There would be no need to wait around for Rodgers.<\/p>\n Cousins feels physically good, too. During a talk with former NFL coach Jon Gruden, Cousins said that he\u2019s feeling healthier than ever<\/a> after his past Achilles and additional injuries and is in good spirits.<\/p>\n \u201cI think getting away from the Achilles tear, over two years now, I feel rejuvenated,\u201d Cousins said on the show. \u201cGetting to play last year at the end, going 4-0 down the stretch, put the wind in my sails again. I feel really good, probably the healthiest I\u2019ve been in a while.\u201d<\/p>\n He adds, \u201cSo, I don\u2019t know where it\u2019ll be, I don\u2019t know under what circumstances, but I like the idea of getting back next year and playing.
