The biggest story of the college football<\/a> offseason was without a doubt the drama surrounding Lane Kiffin\u2019s decision to leave the Ole Miss Rebels in the middle of their College Football Playoff run to take the head coaching job at LSU.<\/p>\n

While Kiffin helped turn the Rebels into an SEC contender, he was no longer well-liked in Oxford. New head coach Pete Golding, however, has quickly been embraced. <\/p>\n

After Ole Miss retained star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss \u2014 who successfully navigated a long NCAA<\/a> process to gain an extra year of eligibility \u2014 Chambliss has hit the ground running, speaking to the media this week during spring practice.<\/p>\n

When asked about the difference between Kiffin and Golding, Chambliss offered a comment that quickly went viral, subtly taking a dig at his former coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe personalities are a little different than our old coach and Coach Golding. I\u2019d say he\u2019s more of a team guy,\u201d Chambliss said. \u201cWe really value his leadership, whatever he says. He shows you faster than I can tell you. He leads by his actions, and we really appreciate that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMore of a team guy? I wonder what that all entails,\u201d one fan wrote.<\/p>\n

Another added, \u201cOh, the bad blood between Ole Miss and Kiffin is going to be cinematic when they play this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe man is the only reason you\u2019re at an SEC school. Sorry, transferring to LSU didn\u2019t work out since you would\u2019ve been ineligible,\u201d another fan chimed in.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s the beef between them when that\u2019s the coach who believed in you in the first place? He left after rebuilding Ole Miss and now is trying to rebuild LSU \u2014 it\u2019s weird behavior,\u201d someone else said.<\/p>\n

One more commented, \u201cYour life completely changed because of Kiffin, buddy. Before that, you were a D2 nobody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chambliss spent four seasons playing at Division II Ferris State before transferring to Ole Miss, where he quickly became a household name by leading the Rebels throughout the season and into the playoffs \u2014 a path he owes in large part to Lane Kiffin, who recruited him and gave him the chance to start.<\/p>\n

Still, there doesn\u2019t seem to be much love lost, and the stakes will be high when Ole Miss and LSU meet on Sept. 19 in Oxford, promising a rowdy and electric atmosphere.<\/p>\n
