ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014\u00a0The Jacksonville Jaguars made it official \u2013 they will play their 2027 season at Orlando\u2019s Camping World Stadium<\/a>. That\u2019s the year after the upcoming NFL season, when the stadium in Jacksonville will be renovated.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

$25 million per game \u2013 that\u2019s how much Jacksonville\u2019s mayor says each Jaguars game generates for that city.<\/p>\n

So when the Jags play in Orlando in 2027, that economic boost is expected Central Florida. In fact, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer says it could be an even higher impact per game in Orlando.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there will be more here, not just from the number of people in the stadium, but people tend to extend their stay when they come to Orlando \u2013 we have some other things to do \u2013 so I expect some pretty serious economic impact,\u201d said Dyer.<\/p>\n

And that impact will be felt by small businesses near the stadium, like Peace Food Store.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited,\u201d said Samanter Jarrett. \u201cWe do get a lot of business from the events from the stadium, and with the Jaguars playing, it will bring a lot of traffic for customers for us. Even though I might work a little late, it does help out with the business, and we\u2019re local.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyond the $400 million Orange County leaders are spending on upgrading Camping World Stadium \u2013 in part to make sure they convinced the Jaguars to play a season here \u2013 residents can expect other improvements around the stadium as the Orlando rolls out the welcome mat.<\/p>\n

The city has plans to make beautification improvements to streets around the stadium, including one of the main corridors, Central Avenue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a huge economic driver, especially for our small businesses,\u201d said Orlando City District 5 Commissioner Shan Rose. \u201cThis is an opportunity for us to continue to grow and continue to be a world-class city here in Orlando.\u201d<\/p>\n

And if things go well, it could help lure future big events to Orlando.<\/p>\n
