The NFL has announced the team will play its 2027 home games in Orlando while EverBank Stadium undergoes a $1.4 billion renovation, known as the \u201cStadium of the Future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The temporary move to Camping World Stadium is drawing mixed reactions from fans in Jacksonville and Orlando. Some excited about what\u2019s ahead, others concerned about the impact in the short term.<\/p>\n
For Orlando resident and Jaguars fan James Ellis, the move is a being celebrated.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ellis, who is in Jacksonville for work, said he\u2019s looking forward to having the team closer to home.<\/p>\n
\u201cHey Jaxson, if you need a place to crash, come on over, I got you, bro,\u201d Ellis joked, referring to the team\u2019s mascot.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m pretty stoked,\u201d he added. \u201cI think it\u2019s only fair I come up here to visit Jacksonville. It\u2019s great the Jaguars are coming to visit me. It\u2019s exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ellis said he is also eager to reconnect with fellow fans.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve been to a Jaguars game,\u201d he said. \u201cI know a lot of real diehards who drive up every weekend, so I\u2019m looking forward to reconnecting with them and getting to a game next year.\u201d<\/p>\n
In Jacksonville, some fans say the temporary relocation will make it harder to attend games.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, I love the Jags stadium,\u201d said Andrew Gambardella, a Jacksonville resident who regularly attends games.<\/p>\n
Gambardella said traveling to Orlando could limit how often he sees the team play.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot great for me. I\u2019m not going to go to as many Jags games now or at all. So it kind of hurts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Other fans echoed concerns about the financial burden of traveling out of town.<\/p>\n
\u201cExcited for the new things to come, but sad for the fans that won\u2019t be able to travel, financially-wise,\u201d said Jaguars fan Kelly Stephens.<\/p>\n
Still, Stephens said she may try to make the trip to Orlando.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe. I would like to,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The Jaguars are expected to play the 2026 season at EverBank Stadium with reduced seating capacity before relocating to Orlando in 2027. The renovated stadium in Jacksonville is expected to be completed in time for the 2028 season.<\/p>\n
Camping World Stadium in Orlando is also undergoing its own $400 million renovation project, which is expected to be finished before the Jaguars\u2019 temporary move.<\/p>\n
