With Hall having the franchise tag, the Jets technically could trade him if they wanted to, but that just doesn’t seem like a likely or good option. I just don\u2019t think you can get the sort of value for a running back on a franchise tag that would make it worth everyone\u2019s while to lose another of your best players,” Breer wrote. “My sense is they\u2019ll make a real run at extending him. And maybe if those talks don\u2019t go well, and the team\u2019s struggling in midseason, you look at dealing him at the deadline.”<\/p>\n There’s no reason for the Jets to even consider this idea at this point. If the Jets wanted to move on from Hall, they easily could have. There was interest ahead of the 2025 trade deadline and then New York could’ve let Hall head to free agency if it wanted. Instead, the Jets committed to him. New York didn’t just give him the transition tag, but instead the franchise tag<\/a> to make it even more difficult for another team to come in and try to snatch him. <\/p>\n While rumors \u2014 and mainly speculation \u2014 have swirled around Hall over the last year about his future with the Jets, every step of the way New York has done something to make sure Hall would be in town. Trade rumors began last offseason, but the Jets obviously didn’t move him. The same can be said about the 2025 trade deadline as well. <\/p>\n New York has shown over and over again that it loves Hall and giving him the franchise tag was a tool in order to keep him in town, not prepare for some sort of trade.
