\u201cIt was na\u00efve of me to assume I was more valued than I was,\u201d she told bizjournals.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kaney detailed the disappointment after her four-year run with the company, which also included a year-plus serving as the Eagles\u2019 sideline reporter.<\/p>\n She replaced Howard Eskin in 2024 after the longtime Philadelphia sports voice was accused of \u201cforcibly grabbing\u201d a woman<\/a>, allegations he denied<\/a>.<\/p>\n The job was a dream come true for Kaney, a childhood Eagles fan<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kaney also had a spot on one of the networks\u2019 radio morning shows, plus Phillies duties. She even told bizjournals.com that she signed a two-year extension with the network last year.<\/p>\n While WIP will no longer be employing her, she noted to the outlet that the Eagles sideline reporter budget is not the same as WIP\u2019s overall budget and she\u2019s hopeful there\u2019s a path to remaining in that role.<\/p>\n Kaney also serves as a weekend anchor and reporter for Fox 29 in Philadelphia <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m going to miss covering an NFL team,\u201d Kaney told the publication. \u201cI loved working with Merrill (Reese), Mike (Quick) and our producer, Joe McPeak.<\/p>\n \u201cMike Quick became a mentor to me. Those guys worked together for so long and they just accepted me right away, and they all reached out when they heard (about the layoff).\u201d<\/p>\n If there\u2019s no path with WIP \u2014 which is owned by Audacy \u2014 Kaney is hopeful there could be a national gig on the horizon.<\/p>\n \u201cI am going to aim really high,\u201d Kaney told bizjournals.com.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u201cThere are not a lot of opportunities locally.\u00a0NBC\u00a0(Sports Philadelphia) has gotten rid of its sideline reporters.
