The Houston Texans<\/a> could be among those added to the list of NFL teams to play an international game during the 2026 regular season.<\/p>\n

They’re far from confirmed to be one of the select teams to go abroad next season, but when asking Texans team president Mike Tomon, he’s certainly keeping the door open to do so if the opportunity presents itself.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, we’re open to it, I think is the way we look at it,” Tomon said of playing internationally, via KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson<\/a>. “We want to make sure it makes sense for football. So, we have to really think through those things. We also want to be able to promote the city on that global stage. And so, those are all things that we’re open to.”<\/p>\n

“I think one of the things that we’re very supportive of is this international growth, and we think we’ll play a key role in that at some point.”<\/p>\n

During the 2026 season, the NFL will be taking part in a record number nine international games across seven different countries, including England, Australia, Mexico, and France among others.<\/p>\n

Multiple teams have already been confirmed to be playing in various countries abroad next season, such as the Dallas Cowboys in Brazil, the Detroit Lions in Germany, and a Week One matchup between the LA Rams and San Francisco 49ers in Australia.<\/p>\n

The Texans, if prompted, could be added to that list of teams to add to their miles traveled across the country next season, and might have their best chance of doing so as a designated away team against one of the previously reported host teams.<\/p>\n

Who Could the Texans Play Internationally in 2026?<\/p>\n

As it currently stands, the Texans<\/a> would have two lone opportunities to travel abroad in 2026 based on how their schedule is set up\u2013\u2013and both of those matchups would have to take place in London, England.<\/p>\n

Both the Washington Commanders and the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> (on two occasions) are slated to be home teams in London next season, who happen to also have home matchups scheduled to take place against the Texans.<\/p>\n

If the NFL wanted to send the Texans over to Europe as one of the many teams who could expand their global market, there\u2019s an opportunity to do so, and one that Houston\u2019s lead decision-makers would be ready and willing to make happen.<\/p>\n

The Texans have already made the trek to London and Wembley Stadium once in their recent history, also to face the Jaguars back in 2019, for what would be a dominant 26-3 victory for Houston, which could be a good sign for what could be in store in the event of another trip to the United Kingdom in 2026.<\/p>\n

As to whether the Texans will have one on tap remains to be determined as the NFL’s upcoming regular season schedule begins to shake out in the weeks ahead. But it at least should be something to keep an eye on as a venture Houston might just pursue.<\/p>\n
