Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins has agreed to a contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, his agent said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Mike McCartney, Cousins\u2019 agent, said that the 37-year-old quarterback, a 14-year NFL veteran, had agreed to a deal, NBC Sports<\/a> reported. Terms were not immediately disclosed, according to ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n Cousins, 37, was released by the Atlanta Falcons on March 11<\/a>. He spent the last two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons after signing a four-year, $180 million contract, ESPN<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n At the NFL league meeting this week, Raiders coach Klint Kubiak said he wanted a rookie quarterback — most likely Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, the presumptive No. 1 overall pick — to learn from a veteran, NBC Sports<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n The Raiders own the No. 1 pick, and now they have a serviceable quarterback who can teach a rookie the ropes in the NFL.<\/p>\n Cousins came to the Falcons from Minnesota in 2024 after suffering a torn Achilles in \u201823. He led Atlanta to a 6-3 start before slumping after an arm injury, ESPN<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n That included nine interceptions over a five-game stretch, and the Falcons benched him in Week 16 in favor of Michael Penix Jr.<\/p>\n Cousins lost his starting job in 2025, but regained it when Penix suffered a season-ending injury to his left knee during a Week 11 loss to the Carolina Panthers.<\/p>\n During his two seasons in Atlanta, Cousins threw for 5,229 yards<\/a> and 28 touchdowns<\/a>. He had a 12-10 record as a starter.<\/p>\n Cousins, who was drafted by Washington in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft, played six seasons in the nation\u2019s capital. He then spent six seasons in Minnesota.<\/p>\n For his career, Cousins has thrown for 44,700 yards<\/a> and 298 touchdowns<\/a>.
