Close<\/a>Marc Raimondi’s first year covering the Falcons was 2024, but it wasn’t his first year at ESPN. He joined the company in 2019 and was a top combat sports reporter. The Atlanta Falcons<\/a> unveiled new uniforms Thursday, saying the look honors “the team’s rich history while also reflecting excitement for the future.”<\/p>\n

Red will again be the jersey’s primary color, a callback to the heyday with former star quarterback Matt Ryan, who is now the team’s president of football.<\/p>\n

The home uniform will feature a black helmet, red jersey, white pants and red socks. “Falcons” will appear across the chest with white numbering and nameplate typography.<\/p>\n

The away uniform sports a black helmet, white jersey and two pants options — white or black — with white socks. “Atlanta” will appear across the chest with red numbering and nameplate typography.<\/p>\n

“Red has always meant something different in Atlanta,” Ryan said in a statement. “It’s when our best football has been played, where this city has shown its heart, and when I experienced the greatest moments of my career. When you put on red, you feel the history, the pride, and the energy that comes with being a Falcon. Bringing it back honors what’s been built here and fueling what’s coming next, which I’m very excited for our fans to see.”<\/p>\n

The new pants will feature striping “inspired by the original 1966 Falcons design accentuated by a distinctive silver layer.” The helmets will keep the low-gloss shell with a new silver face mark and an updated front number featuring the “winged ATL,” the team’s secondary logo. A Falcons logo path will appear on each sleeve and “DIRTY BIRDS” will be stamped inside the collar.<\/p>\n

As far as the typography and numbers, the Falcons promise better legibility (a subject of criticism of the past uniforms<\/a>), forward-leading angles and “Falcons-specific design cues” to “create a look that’s bold and unmistakable on the field.” The number set is finally redesigned and the new nameplate font “blends classic football styling with a touch of Falcons DNA dispersed within the character set.”<\/p>\n

“The red is what makes this team who it is,” running back Bijan Robinson<\/a> said in a statement. “They have accomplished a lot in those red uniforms. I feel like us bringing it back is a statement to the city, a statement to the team.”<\/p>\n

Cornerback A.J. Terrell Jr.<\/a>, who grew up in Atlanta, said seeing the new uniforms “brought back a lot of childhood memories.”<\/p>\n
