The Chicago Bears<\/a> had a chance to make a massive move ahead of the 2025 trade deadline, but at the time, they chose not to take it.<\/p>\n

Fast forward about six months, and the Bears decided to make that exact move.<\/p>\n

According to Brandon Beane, the Buffalo Bills<\/a> reached out about DJ Moore, looking to see whether the Bears would trade him at the deadline. Moore was eventually traded to the Bills during this offseason.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Moore] was one of the guys that we called and checked,\u201d Beane said<\/a> H\/T Buffalo Sports Talk) \u201cAnd Chicago shut it down. They were trying to make a run.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I think they at least knew there was interest, and they reached back out when we got to Indy [for the NFL combine] and said, \u2018Hey, you know, maybe we\u2019d be open if something made sense.\u2019 And we [were] fortunate to be able to figure that out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trading one of the better wide receivers on the roster at the trade deadline, especially when the Bears were a playoff team, would have been met with a lot of criticism from Chicago’s perspective.<\/p>\n

I understand why they might have done it if they got a perfect deal, but it was a much better plan to trade him in the offseason as Ryan Poles did.<\/p>\n
