The Minnesota Vikings<\/a> haven\u2019t been quiet to start the offseason, as they recently signed former Arizona Cardinals<\/a> quarterback Kyler Murray to bolster the franchise\u2019s quarterback room.<\/p>\n

According to the Athletic\u2019s Alec Lewis<\/a>, the Vikings may not be finished making moves.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo currently stand out (in terms of trade suitors for Defensive end Jonathan Greenard): the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> and the Indianapolis Colts<\/a>,\u201d Lewis wrote last Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth are in win-now mode. Both explored the possibilities of signing free-agent edge rushers Trey Hendrickson and Phillips. Both have invested in edge rushers in recent years. Greenard also fits the systems of both defensive coordinators: Vic Fangio of the Eagles and Lou Anarumo of the Colts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lewis noted that the Vikings would want a Day 2 draft pick for Greenard if a trade were to materialize. That said, an Apr. 1 trade rumor<\/a> centered on the Vikings isn\u2019t good news for the Eagles and Colts.<\/p>\n

\u201cChris, bottom line, a trade would happen because someone swoops in to give him a real raise, and forks over a Day 2 pick,\u201d Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote Wednesday. \u201cI don\u2019t know that anyone\u2019s gotten close to that yet.<\/p>\n

But this all started because Greenard reached the end of the guaranteed portion of his contract and is making \u2018only\u2019 $19 million this year, and $19 million next year, which is a fraction of what the top edge rushers make.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo he wanted a raise. Minnesota wasn\u2019t in a position to give it to him. And I don\u2019t think his camp has found a suitor who was willing to do that, and give up a high-end pick or two.\u201d<\/p>\n

Breer\u2019s report negatively affects the Colts and the Eagles, but Philadelphia is undoubtedly the more desperate franchise when it comes to upgrading its pass-rushing attack.<\/p>\n

Nakobe Dean (signed with the Las Vegas Raiders<\/a>) and Jaelan Phillips (signed with the Carolina Panthers<\/a>) are no longer on the roster, forcing the organization to shore up that area of their defense as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

Although Greenard wasn\u2019t great with the Vikings last year, he finished with 59 tackles, 12 sacks, and four forced fumbles during a phenomenal 2024-25 campaign with Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, for the Eagles\u2019 sake, the next update on Greenard\u2019s trade status is more positive.<\/p>\n
