{"id":849710,"date":"2026-04-02T17:51:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-02T17:51:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/849710\/"},"modified":"2026-04-02T17:51:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T17:51:16","slug":"la-chargers-help-high-school-athletes-learn-lifesaving-cpr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/849710\/","title":{"rendered":"LA Chargers help high school athletes learn lifesaving CPR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than 250 high school student-athletes from across the Los Angeles Unified School District spent a day learning about heart health alongside Los Angeles Chargers players.<\/p>\n<p>Students learned hands-only CPR, met Chargers players Elijah Molden and RJ Mickens, participated in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uclahealth.org\/programs\/sports-performance\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"UCLA Sports Performance Training, Powered by Exos\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">UCLA Health Sports Performance Training, Powered by Exos<\/a>, and enjoyed lunch on the patio at Huddle for Heart Health, held March 19 at The Bolt, the Chargers\u2019 official practice facility in El Segundo.<\/p>\n<p>The event was presented by UCLA Health, the American Heart Association, the Los Angeles Chargers and LAUSD.<\/p>\n<p>Hands-only CPR is a lifesaving skill, said David Sato, MD, board president of the American Heart Association Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe save more lives when we work together,\u201d said Dr. Sato. \u201cThis collaboration with UCLA Health and the Los Angeles Chargers to teach students how to perform hands-only CPR helps ensure more families in Los Angeles have someone ready to act in a cardiac emergency when seconds count.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cpr.heart.org\/-\/media\/cpr-files\/courses-and-kits\/hands-only-cpr\/handsonly-cpr-faqs-ucm_494175.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"American Heart Association\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hands-only CPR<\/a> is a lifesaving procedure for cardiac emergencies that doesn\u2019t involve rescue breaths. It involves pressing hard and fast in the center of the chest of a teen or adult who has collapsed.
