The Baltimore Ravens<\/a> already got 1 elite edge rusher in free agency by signing NFL All-Pro Trey Hendrickson<\/a> to a 4-year, $112 million contract.<\/p>\n Why not make a play for another 1, even if he\u2019s a little past his prime?<\/p>\n Former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney<\/a>, who played for the Ravens in 2023, recently said he\u2019s open to a reunion with his former team in 2026.<\/p>\n \u201cThey take pride in their defense,\u201d Clowney told NFL reporter Aaron Wilson<\/a>. \u201cI enjoyed the locker room. The guys that was in the locker room was an extremely fun group of guys. A lot of leaders was on that team, a lot of guys that respect the game of football. They got a lot of good guys that I can relate to in that locker room. I\u2019ll definitely be open to going back to Baltimore, playing with Lamar Jackson<\/a> now. It was a great time for me.\u201d<\/p>\n Clowney, 33 years old, had a career-high 9.5 sacks playing for the Ravens in 2023 under former defensive coordinator and current Seattle Seahawks<\/a> head coach Mike Macdonald.<\/p>\n Jadeveon Clowney Played for Cowboys in 2025<\/p>\n The Dallas Cowboys brought Clowney in to try to fill the void left when they traded NFL All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons<\/a> to the Green Bay Packers<\/a> before the 2025 season.<\/p>\n Clowney showed he still has some tread left on the tires by putting up a team-high 8.5 sacks in just 13 games \u2014 he wasn\u2019t signed until September 14 on a 1-year, $3.5 million contract.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Cowboys<\/a>\u2018 defense post-Micah Parsons is a work in progress, but the team has some hope that reinforcements are on the way,\u201d\u00a0ESPN\u2019s Dan Graziano<\/a> wrote on September 18. \u201cThe signing\u00a0of veteran edge rusher\u00a0Jadeveon Clowney<\/a> should help bolster the front while Dallas awaits health improvements on the back end.\u201d<\/p>\n Those improvements never came as the Cowboys finished the season 7-9-1, missed the playoffs for the 2nd consecutive season, and had the NFL\u2019s worst defense.<\/p>\n Firmly in Journeyman Stage Of Career<\/p>\n Clowney, 32 years old, was the No. 1 overall pick by the\u00a0Houston Texans<\/a> in the 2014 NFL draft and eclipsed $100 million in career earnings<\/a>\u00a0in 2025.<\/p>\n He\u2019s also on his seventh team in 8 seasons but is still producing at what should be considered an above-average level \u2014 he has 2 seasons of at least 9.0 sacks in the last 4 years and led the lowly Carolina Panthers<\/a>\u00a0with 6.0 sacks in 14 games 2024.<\/p>\n \u201cClowney missed three games due to injury in 2024, which has been a consistent theme throughout his career,\u201d\u00a0Bleacher Report\u2019s Matt Holder<\/a> wrote in July 2025. \u201cHe\u2019s only played in a full season\u2019s worth of games twice in 11 years. That, combined with being on the wrong side of 30 years old, is likely why the Panthers<\/a>\u00a0let him go during free agency and is part of the reason he\u2019s still unsigned. But a team looking for help on the edge should at least give the veteran a call.\u201d<\/p>\n The Ravens signing Clowney for a steal \u2014 think something along the lines of the same contract he signed with the Cowboys \u2014 seems like it would be a smart move.<\/p>\n For Clowney, getting to play for a Super Bowl contender might be the biggest payoff.
