Mike Tomlin is pressing ahead with the next stage of Pittsburgh Steelers preparation for the seasonCredit: AP 2<\/p>\n Aaron Rodgers is yet to give an indication on if he’ll play or retireCredit: AP<\/p>\n And the delay in his announcement is causing coach Tomlin a big problem.<\/p>\n The Steelers <\/a>have been after Rodgers <\/a>since he was released by the New York Jets<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n And with the calendar very soon turning to June, Pittsburgh is ramping up preparations for the new season.<\/p>\n OTAs begin this week for the franchise.<\/p>\n But the Steelers still have no indication<\/a> on if or when Rodgers will show up.<\/p>\n Tomlin will be forced to ride with Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson in the quarterback room until Rodgers decides.<\/p>\n The team selected Will Howard in the sixth round of the NFL Draft<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n But that selection was more to add depth to a depleted room which lost both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields this off-season.<\/p>\n Rodgers’ delay means the Steelers’ options have become incredibly limited.<\/p>\n They opted against taking a quarterback earlier in the draft as a potential starter.<\/p>\n Pittsburgh Steelers officially announce major new $17.9 million signing ahead of Aaron Rodgers move<\/p>\n NBC’s Pro Football Talk claims Rodgers could even decide to show up as late as August.<\/p>\n “Really, if the depth chart consists of Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and Will Howard, would the Steelers say no if Rodgers shows up in the middle of August, like Brett Favre did with the Vikings 16 years ago?” the report read.<\/p>\n Rodgers has largely kept a low profile this off-season.<\/p>\n He spoke to the Pat McAfee Show recently and was secretive about his future.<\/p>\n![\"Aaron](\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1748428394_816_new-york-jets-quarterback-aaron-984066960.jpg\")
