The Seattle Mariners announced they have moved the start time of their game on September 9 to accommodate the home opener for the Seattle Seahawks and the 2026 NFL season.<\/p>\n
The Mariners have moved their game against the Texas Rangers from a scheduled 6:40 p.m. start to a 1:10 p.m. first pitch. That allows the Seahawks to have their opening kickoff at 5:20 p.m.<\/p>\n
As the Super Bowl champions, the Seahawks get the NFL’s traditional spot to open the 2026 season against a yet-to-be-announced opponent. Though that opening game is typically on Thursday night, a matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia will be played on Thursday night in the United States (Friday in Australia) instead.<\/p>\n
The Sounders have already announced that they have moved their September 9 match against Sporting Kansas City to Thursday, October 1 at 6:30 p.m. to vacate a previously scheduled game at Lumen Field that night.<\/p>\n
The Seahawks nearly had to move the start time of their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season due to a potential conflict with a Mariners’ playoff game against the Detroit Tigers. That game could have been scheduled at noon, necessitating the Seahawks to move their 1 p.m. kickoff. However, the Mariners game was scheduled for 5 p.m. and the Seahawks game was able to stay in its normal time slot.<\/p>\n
