The Minnesota Vikings dove into free agency this offseason by adding cornerback James Pierre<\/a>. That is the only move of significance they have made externally this offseason.<\/p>\n Pierre was a necessary addition after Jeff Okudah flopped<\/a> and wasn\u2019t a consideration to return after his one-year deal. Two years ago the Vikings landed two-time All-Pro Stephon Gilmore on a one-year deal, and he showed well in his lone season wearing purple.<\/p>\n After not playing for anyone last year, Gilmore is calling it a career.<\/p>\n Stephon Gilmore retiring after last playing for Minnesota Vikings<\/p>\n Last season the Minnesota Vikings opted against bringing back 35-year-old Stephon Gilmore. Instead they did a new deal with Byron Murphy Jr.<\/a> and brought in Isaiah Rodgers<\/a> to be their CB2. In 2024 it was Gilmore that operated as CB1. No team came calling after he elected free agency last spring, and Gilmore can now focus on other pursuits.<\/p>\n In 15 games with the Minnesota Vikings, the former Super Bowl champion picked off a single pass. It was significant though, as it sealed a victory in London against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. Unfortunately that New England Patriots team<\/a> lost in the Wild Card Round against the Tennessee Titans.<\/p>\n The Vikings paid Gilmore $7 million for his lone season in Minnesota. He leaves the game having earned more than $122.6 million<\/a> over the course of his 13-year career.
