On Thursday, Seahawks general manager and president of football operations John Schneider shared his thoughts about the team’s selection with Seattle Sports’ Wyman and Bob.

Schneider quipped the Seahawks had avoided being on the show since he was hired in 2010. But he does see it as a good opportunity.

“It’s gonna be great… We’re gonna work with the National Football League and the teams that have been through it before to help us just make it a positive for the organization and have it not be as much of a distraction,” Schneider said. “I talked to (Bears GM) Ryan Poles about it down there and a couple other people just about what it looks like, and we’ll have plenty of advice by the time we get there. But I think it’s going to be – it’s a great deal. When the commissioner called me about it, it made sense.

“Sam Darnold, (Devon Witherspoon), (Jaxon Smith-Njigba), (Leonard Williams), (Byron Murphy II), we got some cool characters on this team that are great stories.”

The series typically focuses more on stories and the human side of the game, but Schneider is still wary about how much of the inner-workings of the team being will be aired.

“I just always worried about telling our story, but I get it from a from a PR standpoint, a marketing standpoint,” he said. “We’re just very protective of, like, how we do things, what our culture looks like… We’re gonna make it as positive as we possibly can without sharing as much information as we possibly can.”

However, Schneider is excited for people to get a look at the Pacific Northwest and possibly get to know some of the less-heralded members of the organization who are integral to its success.

“We’re so sheltered up here. It will allow people to see you know how beautiful that the city is and where we are (at) the (Virginia Mason Athletic Center),” he said referring to the team’s practice facility in Renton. “And I’m just excited for people… to get to know people like Patrick (Ward) and (Erik Kennedy) and Nolan (Teasley) and Trent (Kirchner)… for people to understand all the people that have supported this organization for a long, long time.”

About ‘Hard Knocks’

Hard Knocks is a reality sports documentary series that follows an NFL team for an extended period, with actor Liev Schreiber narrating 55-minute episodes. The first season of Hard Knocks followed the Baltimore Ravens in 2001. There have been 26 seasons in total, most of which have covered teams during training camp. There have also been five in-season editions of Hard Knocks since 2021, including two that have covered entire divisions, as well as one offseason edition that featured the New York Giants in 2024.

The John Schneider shows at 4 p.m. on Thursdays during Seattle Sports’ Wyman and Bob leading up to the first day of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Seattle Seahawks offseason
