Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is speaking up again about the Maxx Crosby trade pitch, and he’s getting strong reaction.<\/p>\n
One of the main storylines of the 2025-26 NFL offseason was Maxx Crosby<\/a> of the Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> being available for trade, and the\u00a0Dallas Cowboys<\/a> were one of the teams<\/a> in the hunt for him. Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has expressed that the team was very serious about bringing Crosby on and made three trade offers<\/a>, but instead, Crosby went to the Baltimore Ravens<\/a>, only to fail his physical and come back to the Raiders.<\/p>\n Now, Jones is talking about Crosby again. The Ravens, of course, cited Crosby\u2019s failed physical as why they took back their offer to bring him to Baltimore. Speaking with reporters at the NFL\u2019s annual league meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, Jones basically said that the Cowboys would have done the same thing.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no hidden item there \u2014 you\u2019ve got to pass a physical,\u201d he said, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ve never completed an agreement until the player passes the physical. We would have had the same conditions with the physical.\u201d<\/p>\n Jones added, \u201cAs you know, we were in on making an offer for him. So he would have come to Dallas, and we\u2019ll all just guess what would have happened.\u201d<\/p>\n Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Gets Words After Maxx Crosby Comments Made at NFL League Meeting<\/p>\n As for those comments from Jones, Jerry Trotta of The Landry Hat says<\/a> in a Thursday, April 2, feature that \u201cthe \u2018bad faith\u2019 crowd isn\u2019t going to enjoy reading that quote.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cJones didn\u2019t go as far as to say that Dallas would\u2019ve followed Baltimore\u2019s lead,\u201d Trotta adds, \u201cbut he didn\u2019t have to. And it makes you wonder if other interested teams would have done the same.\u201d<\/p>\n Trotta goes on to comment on how the Ravens handled their situation and why it was controversial, to put it lightly. \u201cIt\u2019s one thing to back out of the trade because of a failed physical. What makes Baltimore look so shady is that they reportedly communicated with free agent Trey Hendrickson before bailing on the Raiders,\u201d he says. Of course, the team then signed Hendrickson to a four-year, $112 million contract, according to research from Spotrac<\/a>.<\/p>\n So, \u201cknowing how much Jones loves making headlines \u2014 and how much star power the Cowboys need on defense \u2014 it\u2019s pretty bonkers that he walked away from the biggest move of the NFL<\/a> offseason,\u201d Trotta adds<\/a>. \u201cThat almost vindicates Baltimore\u2019s decision, as shady as it looks in retrospect.\u201d<\/p>\n Dallas Cowboys\u2019 Maxx Crosby Trade Pitches Included Three Bold Moves<\/p>\n According to a report from ESPN\u2019s Ryan McFadden out on March 24<\/a>, the Dallas Cowboys proposed three different deals to the Las Vegas Raiders that started with pick No. 20 in the 2026 draft and Osa Odighizuwa to get Crosby to Texas.<\/p>\n \u201cInitial offers centered on Dallas\u2019 second first-round pick at No. 20, and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa,\u201d McFadden said in the report. \u201cThe Cowboys then offered their top first-rounder at No. 12 and a third-round pick.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cUltimately, the Cowboys moved to No. 12 and their second-round pick, but the last two offers, sources said, did not include Odighizuwa, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers<\/a> for a third-round selection.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\t\tAnne Erickson<\/a> is an award-winning reporter for Heavy Sports covering the NFL, NBA and college football.
