Former Indianapolis Colts’<\/a> cornerback Stephon Gilmore announced on social media that he is retiring from the NFL.<\/p>\n

Gilmore played the 2022 NFL season with the Colts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In his social media post, Gilmore wrote, “To my first love, Football — As a young, scrappy kid from Rock Hill, South Carolina with humble beginnings, the eldest of 6 — you gave me focus, opportunity, strength, and friends to last a lifetime.”<\/p>\n

Gilmore continued, “From my first game with Finley Road Falcons to two Super Bowls, multiple Pro Bowls, and a Defensive Player of the Year Award, you taught me the invaluable lesson of working hard and believing in myself.”<\/p>\n

During the 2022 season with the Colts, Gilmore made 16 starts<\/a>, logging two interceptions, 13 pass deflections, and 66 total tackles. In the 2023 offseason, the Colts traded Gilmore to the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n

Along with spending time with the Colts and Cowboys, Gilmore spent his first five seasons in Buffalo, where he was a first-round pick in 2012. Gilmore then spent the next four seasons in New England. He last played a regular-season game in 2024 with Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Gilmore finishes his career as a five-time Pro Bowler, a two-time first-team All-Pro, a Super Bowl champion, and the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year.<\/p>\n
