The Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> are brining veteran tight end Travis Kelce back for another season, but that doesn\u2019t mean that the team can\u2019t still add to the position.<\/p>\n

Kelce is in the twilight of his career, and coach Andy Reid will likely want to manage Kelce\u2019s workload throughout the season. Plus, the Chiefs will need to identify a succession plan at the position.<\/p>\n

Chiefs named top landing spot for Kyle Pitts<\/p>\n

As a result, the Chiefs were recently named a top landing spot<\/a> for Atlanta Falcons<\/a> tight end Kyle Pitts by Moe Moton of Bleacher Report.<\/p>\n

The Falcons placed the franchise tag on Pitts for the 2026 season, but they are willing to listen to trade offers<\/a> for the former first-round pick.<\/p>\n

“General manager Brett Veach can acquire Pitts to continue the elite lineage of tight ends in Kansas City’s recent history. Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez played for the team from 1997 to 2008. A handful of years after the Chiefs traded him to the Atlanta Falcons, they selected Kelce in the third round of the 2013 draft. One day, he’ll be in the enshrined in Canton, Ohio as well,” Moton wrote.<\/p>\n

“The Chiefs could pair Kelce with Pitts, who would take the franchise tight-end baton from the future Hall of Famer. … In this scenario, Kelce would likely see a reduced role, which would preserve him for the season.”<\/p>\n

Pitts is coming off of the first All-Pro selection of his career after five seasons with the Falcons. He started all 17 games for Atlanta in 2025 and caught 88 passes for 928 yards and five touchdowns. That type of production could be very valuable in Kansas City, though it remains to be seen if the Chiefs would actually be interested in trying to execute a trade with Atlanta.<\/p>\n
