The Denver Broncos<\/a> made very few moves at the onset of the offseason, only bringing back their own free agents and not signing any outside names.<\/p>\n

But that changed, not with a singing, but a massive blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins<\/a> for star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. This was a huge move, and it received praise from around the NFL.<\/p>\n

And compared to the Buffalo Bills<\/a>‘ deal for DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears<\/a>, there is one NFL executive, according to The Athletic’s Mike Sando<\/a>, who believes the Broncos made out a lot better with their Waddle trade than the Bills did with Moore.<\/p>\n

“I like the Waddle move for Denver more because he’s just a better player and he’s younger,” an NFL executive said.<\/p>\n

The Broncos gave up a first and third-round pick to the Dolphins in exchange for Waddle, while the Bills sent a second-rounder to the Bears in the trade.<\/p>\n

While the cost for the Broncos was higher, the player is better, and should be a more impactful receiver than Moore will be for the Bills in 2026.<\/p>\n

Of course, the Broncos had a huge advantage with this deal, as the Bills likely couldn’t have landed Waddle from the Dolphins with the intra-division tax bumping up the cost.<\/p>\n

But still, the Broncos’ trade for Waddle is receiving better praise than the Bills’ deal for Moore. Combined with Moore’s regression in recent years, this trade looks a lot worse for the Bills in the context of the Waddle move.<\/p>\n

Denver got the better of the two receivers, and while it cost a first and a third, it’s worth it to land a true star-caliber wide receiver for their rookie quarterback.<\/p>\n

The Broncos will be firmly in the AFC title race, while the Bills’ move for Moore doesn’t move the needle much from last year for the Bills.<\/p>\n
