That is a result of the Dolphins parting ways with a majority of the team’s high-priced players and prioritizing a salary cap reset in 2026. While fans may agree with the team’s decision long-term, that does not mean they are looking forward to what could be a tough 2026 season.

However, fans will hope that the team’s foundation for future success is laid out this year. Additionally, the team still has some star talent as they have two All-Pro players in linebacker Jordyn Brooks and center Aaron Brewer. Despite being named in trade rumors, the Dolphins are also expected to retain Pro Bowl running back De’Von Achane, who is fresh off the best season of his young career.

Now, the team has announced some important dates as we move closer to the beginning of the 2026 training program.

Miami Dolphins Announce News

USA Today’s Mike Masala laid out the key dates for the Miami Dolphins’ offseason program. Masala wrote:

“They’ll have voluntary minicamp from April 21-23, which comes before the draft. Then, with new rookies on-board, the team will hold their organized team activities (OTAs) from May 18-19, May 21, May 26-27, May 29, June 8-9 and June 11. Mandatory minicamp will run in the middle of OTAs from June 2-4.”

Those dates will be the first official coaching that new head coach Jeff Hafley will do as a member of the Dolphins. It may also be the first instance in which Dolphins’ new quarterback Malik Willis practices with his new Dolphins teammates and coaches.

Draft Outlook for Miami Dolphins

OTAs will be very important for the Miami Dolphins this offseason as the team will have an influx of talent through the draft. The team currently holds seven picks inside of the first three rounds, including two first-round picks.

With the Dolphins’ roster losing talent this offseason, Miami could look at nearly every position in the draft and select the top player available on their board.

In Chad Reuter’s latest mock draft for NFL.com, he predicted the Dolphins adding Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate with the team’s No. 11 pick. Reuter wrote:

“The Dolphins have revamped their receiver room this offseason, parting ways with Tyreek Hill (released) and Jaylen Waddle (traded to Denver) while signing Tutu Atwell and Jalen Tolbert. Tate is the sort of polished pass catcher new quarterback Malik Willis needs to have in order to succeed in his first season in Miami.”

Then, with the team’s second first-round pick, Reuter predicted Miami drafting Auburn edge rusher Keldric Faulk. He wrote:

“Faulk perfectly fits the long, strong DE-type new head coach Jeff Hafley employs in his scheme.”

Overall, in the five-round mock draft, Reuter had the Dolphins drafting: wide receiver Carnell Tate, edge Kendric Faulk, cornerback Keionte Scott, safety Jalon Kilgore, tight end Oscar Delp, running back Kaytron Allen, guard Jalen Farmer, cornerback Hezekiah Masses, and tackle Martell Bell.

In Reuter’s mock draft, Miami added nine players across eight positions of need. The 2026 season will determine which players can be contributors to winning down the road.

Jose Esquer Jose Esquer is a Mexican-American sportswriter and communications student based in San Diego, CA.
