After watching star quarterback Justin Herbert get mauled in their season-ending playoff defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots, one of the most important orders of business involves improving the offensive line in front of him.

While much of the o-line’s success will depend on how starting tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt look in their returns to action, the Chargers have been hard at work upgrading the interior spots on their line. However, they still need depth at the tackle positions, which is likely why the team made an intriguing move involving Oregon Ducks offensive tackle Isaiah World ahead of the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

Chargers Host Isaiah World on Top 30 Visit

#Oregon OT Isaiah World, who is recovering from a torn ACL suffered during the Peach Bowl, is with the #Chargers today on a Top 30 visit, source said. Visits will be key, as teams will want an up-close look at his rehab.

Easily the biggest issue for Los Angeles last season was the fact that it spent virtually the entire year without both Slater and Alt on its offensive line. Both guys are Pro Bowl-caliber players, so losing them obviously had a negative effect when it came to the group’s efforts to keep Herbert standing upright under center.

The good news is that, if all goes according to plan, both guys should be back on the field in 2026. As we saw last year, though, there’s no guarantee they will be able to stay healthy, which is why finding depth for them is crucial. That’s where World comes into play, as he made a name for himself last year with Oregon after spending the first three years of his collegiate career with the Nevada Wolf Pack.

World is currently recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season, so that is something that the Chargers, and every other team interested in him, will want to get some extra information on before potentially selecting him in the draft. With that in mind, L.A. is hosting World on a Top 30 visit ahead of the draft on Friday afternoon.

“Oregon OT Isaiah World, who is recovering from a torn ACL suffered during the Peach Bowl, is with the Chargers today on a Top 30 visit, source said. Visits will be key, as teams will want an up-close look at his rehab,” Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported in a post on X.

Should the Chargers Draft Isaiah World?

GettyChargers general manager Joe Hortiz

World is currently set to be a Day 3 pick, but where he ends up getting selected will likely depend on how he progresses through his injury rehab. World isn’t going to be a day one starter in the NFL, but whichever team selects him is going to want to make sure that he will be able to get some work in and develop behind the scenes in 2026.

The Chargers would seemingly be a great landing spot for World as he begins his career. While Slater and Alt are locked in at the tackle spots, both guys have struggled with injuries, meaning there could be snaps that unexpectedly open up for World as he continues to grow early in his career. There’s no doubt Los Angeles is going to add a tackle during the draft, and if World falls down the board, he could very well end up staying put on the West Coast.

Owen Crisafulli Owen Crisafulli is an Email Newsletter Editor & Breaking News Writer at Heavy Sports.
