Trevon Diggs and the Green Bay Packers<\/a> did not have the season they had hoped for. After acquiring Micah Parsons<\/a> from the Dallas Cowboys<\/a> for a package including two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark, many expected the Packers to be a championship contender. Green Bay did not live up to the hype, going 9-7-1 and losing to Caleb Williams<\/a> and the Chicago Bears<\/a> 31-27 in the NFC Wild Card round.<\/p>\n

Diggs was selected with the No. 51 overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft<\/a> by Dallas. The Alabama Crimson Tide<\/a> product spent his first five full seasons with the Cowboys. Although he saw playing time as a rookie and intercepted three passes, it wasn’t until his second season that he broke out. Diggs had a sensational 2021 season, leading the NFL<\/a> in interceptions with 11, making first-team All-Pro.<\/p>\n

Diggs has been unable to recreate the same success from his second season, tallying six interceptions total since that 2021 season. The Cowboys, disappointed by his performance, decided to release Diggs last December, where he was claimed by the Packers on waivers. He appeared in two games for Green Bay last season, starting in one.<\/p>\n

Although Diggs is trying to get his career back in order, he still found time out of the day to celebrate a former teammate. Stephon Gilmore is a former NFL cornerback who last played for the Minnesota Vikings<\/a> in 2024. The South Carolina Gamecock product was best known for his time on the Patriots, where he made back-to-back first-team All-Pros in 2018 and 2019. Gilmore and Diggs were teammates in Dallas during the 2023 season.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Gilmore posted on Instagram, officially retiring from the NFL. Players and personalities from around the league congratulated him on his fantastic career, including Diggs. In reply to Gilmore’s post, Diggs advocates for his gold jacket, responding, “HALL OF FAME”.<\/p>\n

The Packers hold the No. 52 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft<\/a>, which begins on April 23rd.<\/p>\n
