As the Washington Commanders gear up for the 2026 NFL Draft<\/a>, fans are already getting something to be excited about, and it has nothing to do with a pick just yet. Last month, the team dropped a teaser for a new primary uniform that\u2019s expected to be revealed before draft night.<\/p>\n

A Bridging of Eras<\/p>\n

From what\u2019s been shown so far, this looks like a clear nod to the franchise\u2019s Super Bowl era<\/a> roots, just with a more modern feel.<\/p>\n

Since taking over, managing partner Josh Harris has been pretty open about wanting to reconnect the organization <\/a>with its history. Having lived through the team\u2019s dominant run in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s, he\u2019s made it a priority to bring some of that RFK Stadium energy back into the building.<\/p>\n

\u201cI lived through how amazing those teams were,\u201d Harris told WUSA9<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s important to go back to that as much as you can. But at the same time, we have a bright future ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to insiders, this new look could build on the white throwback jerseys fans saw in 2025. And don\u2019t be surprised if a burgundy version is part of the mix too, giving the team a full primary set that feels very reminiscent of the Joe Gibbs era.<\/p>\n

Fans-Sourced Inspiration<\/p>\n

What stands out the most here is how the Commanders approached the redesign. Instead of keeping everything behind closed doors, they were actually paying attention to what fans were creating online. <\/p>\n

Some of those fan-made concepts were so good that they were brought into internal meetings. While the NFL and Nike still handled the official process, the team clearly wanted to make sure the final product reflected what fans have been asking for.<\/p>\n

The timing of the reveal also feels intentional. Dropping the uniforms just before the draft keeps the momentum going during one of the most exciting parts of the offseason. It\u2019s still unclear if fans will see the full lineup, including alternates, but Harris hinted there\u2019s more coming.<\/p>\n

Modern Design Meets Heritage<\/p>\n

At the end of the day, the Commanders’ name is NFL royalty, and now visually, they’re taking a step back in the right direction. <\/p>\n

By blending modern design with those classic RFK-era elements, Washington is trying to move forward while also embracing what made the franchise special in the first place.<\/p>\n
