The negotiation period for NFL free agency opened at 11 a.m. Monday, and the Saints clearly were ready for the starting bell. They made several signings within the first three hours, both big splashes and smaller moves for depth, as well as watching at least one franchise favorite go to another team.<\/p>\n
Players and teams can agree to the terms of a deal Monday and Tuesday, but they can\u2019t officially sign until the start of the new NFL year Wednesday. In rare cases, free agents do change their minds, but for the most part, these deals will become official Wednesday.<\/p>\n
