{"id":854218,"date":"2026-04-05T00:12:22","date_gmt":"2026-04-05T00:12:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/854218\/"},"modified":"2026-04-05T00:12:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T00:12:22","slug":"ravens-draft-prediction-lands-georgia-tech-qb-haynes-king","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/854218\/","title":{"rendered":"Ravens Draft Prediction Lands Georgia Tech QB Haynes King"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"780\" height=\"439\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2264102076-1-e1775333856684.jpg\" class=\"attachment-featured-image size-featured-image wp-post-image\" alt=\"Haynes King\"   decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGetty\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King. <\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Baltimore Ravens\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/baltimore-ravens\/\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"214961\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Baltimore Ravens<\/a> have the NFL\u2019s greatest rushing quarterback of all time on the roster with 2-time NFL MVP <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Lamar Jackson\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/lamar-jackson\/\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"214971\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lamar Jackson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More often than not, when Jackson has gone down with an injury, he\u2019s been replaced with what seems like an endless stream of pocket passers.<\/p>\n<p>What might be smart for the Ravens is to put a player in the backup role behind Jackson who has a similar skill set, which is why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballnetwork.com\/2026-nfl-mock-draft-7-round-randall-april\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Pro Football Network\u2019s latest mock draft<\/a> predicts the Ravens will take Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King in the 7th round (No. 53 overall) of the 2026 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"NFL\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"214972\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL<\/a> draft.<\/p>\n<p>King spent 3 seasons at Texas A&amp;M and 3 seasons at Georgia Tech, where he closed out his career by being named ACC Offensive Player of the Year in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKing will enter camp as a 25-year-old rookie after spending three years apiece at Texas A&amp;M and Georgia Tech,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/prospects\/haynes-king\/32004b49-4e50-5883-c0f7-b393b967d9d5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein wrote<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s a long-legged, dual-threat quarterback who displayed admirable resilience in becoming a productive, winning player after suffering through unmet expectations at Texas A&amp;M. He\u2019s a grit-and-guts passer with subpar footwork and mechanics, but he finds ways to make plays when needed. He\u2019s not nearly the passer he needs to be for the pro game, but his talent as a runner and mental toughness could give a boost to his chances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Haynes King Flashed Rare Speed at Combine<\/p>\n<p>King, 6-foot-2 and 212 pounds, flashed rare speed at the NFL scouting combine when he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds on his 1st try and 4.46 seconds on his 2nd try.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKing is a short yardage machine, with three straight seasons of double-digit rushing TDs, including 15 in 2025,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EthanKreagerFF\/status\/2039331840666866015?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Fantasy Football expert Ethan Kreager<\/a> wrote on his official X account. \u201cHe also took a sack on only 8.1% of pressures in 2025, showing escapability skills that the NFL values. King also ran a 4.46 40 at the combine, the fifth-fastest time ever for a QB. King is a candidate for a position change but is very intriguing if he sticks at QB.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s 1 longtime NFL standout who King might be smart to emulate \u2014 longtime <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"New Orleans Saints\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/new-orleans-saints\/\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"214960\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Orleans Saints<\/a> quarterback\/running back\/tight end\/wide receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/taysom-hill\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taysom Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaynes King with a 4.47 (at the combine),\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SleeperCFB\/status\/2027836201072529712?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Sleeper HQ wrote<\/a> on its official X account.\u00a0 \u201cFuture Taysom Hill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King\u2019s numbers from college are truly something to behold. Even though he only played 6 seasons, he was only a full-time starter for 3 of those and still finished with career numbers of 11,913 yards of total offene and 102 total touchdowns \u2014 65 passing and 37 rushing.<\/p>\n<p>Being Like Tayson Hill: Great Plan for Haynes King<\/p>\n<p>Were King to have a career like Hill, it would mean the Ravens absolutely struck the lottery if they did land him.<\/p>\n<p>After making the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2017, Hill quickly developed into a special teams star before former head coach Sean Payton began finding <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/taysom-hill-fantasy-football-start-sit-week-11\/\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/taysom-hill-fantasy-football-start-sit-week-11\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">larger roles for him in the offense<\/a>\u00a0in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of having a player who could do almost anything on a football field, Hill is almost\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/chicago-bears\/quincy-patterson-nfl-draft-news-rumors\/\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/chicago-bears\/quincy-patterson-nfl-draft-news-rumors\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unmatched over the last 20 years<\/a>.
