The New England Patriots<\/a> have been linked to A.J. Brown all offseason in trade rumors, but the Philadelphia Eagles have been reluctant to trade him.<\/p>\n

The Patriots have reportedly been unwilling to meet the Eagles’ demands, and insider Ben Volin revealed<\/a> what those demands are in his Saturday story, with updates from the NFL owners meetings.<\/p>\n

“An NFL general manager who was in the wide receiver market this offseason said the Eagles were asking for ‘a one and change’ for Brown,” Volin wrote for The Boston Globe.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have reportedly wanted at least a first-round pick for Brown all offseason. That has not seemed to change, judging by Volin’s update. The Eagles have reportedly tabled discussions for now, but could resume them after June 1, when Brown’s cap implications change. Could the Eagles’ demands change at that point?<\/p>\n

Brown would be a great addition for the Patriots, but a first-round pick and more is a heavy price to pay. The Patriots signed Romeo Doubs this offseason, and he has the talent to emerge as a true No. 1 receiver. Adding Brown would give the Patriots a great duo for sure, but they do not necessarily need him now that they have Doubs.<\/p>\n

The Patriots should stay involved in the market for Brown, but it may only make sense to execute a trade if the Eagles stop asking for a first-round pick in return.<\/p>\n
