The Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> are going into the season with a new offensive coordinator in Mike McDaniel, who recently served as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins for the past four seasons.<\/p>\n

While McDaniel\u2019s tenure with the Dolphins didn\u2019t end the way he had hoped, he hopes a new start with the Chargers is exactly what he needs. The Chargers could also benefit from a revamp, which is why they brought McDaniel over from the East Coast to the West Coast. Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh explained how valuable McDaniel is as an offensive coordinator on the coaching staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey made the analogy about making a better candle,\u201d Harbaugh said via The Athletic insider Daniel Popper<\/a>. \u201cIf you\u2019re gonna make a better candle, make a lightbulb. That analogy makes sense to me when I think of the many meetings that we\u2019ve had, and Mike talking about offensive football.\u201d<\/p>\n

If the charts are going from a candle to a light bulb, that means the offense will take on Holman meeting this upcoming season. There were things that just no longer clicked with Greg Roman at the helm, and the disconnect led to the difficult loss against the New England Patriots in the wild card round.<\/p>\n
