For the NFL<\/a> world at large, the shocking part of free agency for running back Travis Etienne<\/a> was the sheer amount of money the New Orleans Saints<\/a> paid him on a 4-year, $47.4 million contract.<\/p>\n For the Denver Broncos<\/a>, in a sign that maybe they\u2019re not as in touch with what\u2019s going on as they should be, the shocking thing was that Etienne didn\u2019t want to play for them for way less money.<\/p>\n According to a report from The Athletic\u2019s Mike Sando<\/a>, in a conversation with 1 anonymous NFL executive, the Broncos were \u201cshocked\u201d when Etienne turned his back on them for the big money with the Saints.<\/p>\n Etienne went into free agency with a projected market value of a 2-year, $13.6 million contract.<\/p>\n \u201c(One) exec said the Broncos thought they were going to sign former Jaguars<\/a> running back Travis Etienne, only to have the Saints land him instead,\u201d Sando wrote. \u201d \u2018They were shocked,\u2019 this exec said.\u00a0Denver later re-signed running back J.K. Dobbins<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n The Broncos signed Dobbins to a 2-year, $16 million contract on March 9.<\/p>\n J.K. Dobbins Goes to Battle Online After Signing<\/p>\n Plenty of NFL players celebrate their big-money contracts with splurges.<\/p>\n They buy a car. They go on a crazy vacation. They buy their mom a house.<\/p>\n In the case of Dobbins, he decided to go to war with the trolls \u2026 as in the trolls on social media who hated the Broncos paying him so much money after he missed the final 7 games of the 2025 regular season after undergoing surgery for a Lisfranc injury.<\/p>\n Former Broncos offensive lineman and Super Bowl champion Tyler Polumbus questioned whether or not his old team had improved at all in a post to his official X account \u2014 specifically singling out the running backs.<\/p>\n \u201cBroncos had 3 upgrade needs on offense entering Free Agency: RB TE and WR1,\u201d\u00a0Polumbus wrote on Monday<\/a>. \u201cThey now enter the draft with 3 needs for upgrades on offense. Thoughts???\u201d<\/p>\n Dobbins had some thoughts on the matter<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cLol go check the numbers and tell us how many RBs are better,\u201d\u00a0Dobbins wrote<\/a>\u00a0in reply to Polumbus, followed by a thumbs down emoji.<\/p>\n Let\u2019s Talk Broncos\u2019 Zach Segars<\/a>\u00a0posted and deleted on X something that drew a similar reply from Dobbins.<\/p>\n \u201cGo check the numbers,\u201d Dobbins wrote in reply to Segars, followed by another thumbs down emoji.<\/p>\n Dobbins saved his most potent vitriol for Broncos superfan Respect My Cos.<\/p>\n \u201c13m was too much for\u00a0Travis Etienne<\/a>\u00a0\u2026 but we paid JK DOBBINS 10 a YEAR????? HE AVERAGES 7 GAMES A SZN LMAOOOO,\u201d\u00a0Respect My Cos wrote<\/a>\u00a0on Monday. \u201cJK Dobbins 2yr 20m \u2026..
