The Jacksonville Jaguars showed that Travon Walker is part of their long-term plans when they gave him a four-year deal worth $110 million<\/a>. Sure, it never seemed like the Jags were planning to move on from the former Georgia Bulldog, but giving an extension now proves that they’re confident he can make an impact in 2026.<\/p>\n

And just a few days after Walker signed his extension, he met with the local media. Throughout the exchange, he made several comments that affirmed why Jacksonville didn’t hesitate to lock him up.<\/p>\n

Travon Walker told reporters that Liam Coen’s Aaron Donald comparison helps him improve, pointing out that that kind of motivation can help him be great<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“Just pure dominance, man. It’s just obviously helping everybody else on the team get better-wise, helping me get better as well,” Walker said. “Like I said, just pure dominance, everybody that plays in this league wants to be great, wants to be hopefully, that’s everybody’s mindset, to be great in the end. I think that’s really what he was getting to when he was speaking on that.”<\/p>\n

For context, Coen had previously told Aaron Donald that he wanted him to develop elite practice habits<\/a> like Aaron Donald and dominate so much that they had to take him out. <\/p>\n

Later in the exchange with the press corps, No. 44 said that he’s working on the finer details to once again play at a high level after an injury-marred season.<\/p>\n

“My main thing was just working on getting healthy again. It’s just fine-tuning those small details within my hands, eye coordination things of that nature. Just trying to keep my twitch, as far as my strength, risk mobility, working on some, a lot of things, but it’s basically just ironing out some small details. The further you get in your career, it kind of gets harder to, I don’t wanna say it gets harder to potentially elevate, it’s just like you gotta find those smaller details within your game and potentially work those things,” Walker said.<\/p>\n

Last year, Walker dealt with hand and knee injuries<\/a>. While he only missed three games, his production showed that he wasn’t 100 percent. After racking up 10 sacks in back-to-back seasons, the Thomaston, Georgia native only had 2.5 in 2025, the lowest output of his career. <\/p>\n

But based on the deal Jacksonville gave him, last season was an outlier rather than the sign of things to come. <\/p>\n

What should the Jaguars expect from Travon Walker in 2026?<\/p>\n

Injuries are an inherent part of football, and neither team nor players have control over them. The Jaguars are aware of that, which is why they went ahead and extended Travon Walker instead of waiting until his rookie contract expired<\/a> in 2027. Now, he has to repay the team’s trust.<\/p>\n

Working in his favor is that Walker is 100 percent and is entering his second season under defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile. Spending another year in the same scheme should help him hit his stride in 2026. <\/p>\n

Another thing that can help Walker bounce back is bolstering the defensive line. Jacksonville struggled to apply pressure from the interior last year. If the team’s brass adds reinforcements at defensive tackle<\/a>, Walker and bookend pass rusher Josh Hines-Allen should find more success. <\/p>\n

The bottom line is that Travon Walker has shown he can play at a high level. And the Jaguars showed that they believe he can do it again when they gave him his new deal. <\/p>\n
