The Minnesota Vikings<\/a> need a WR3 after the departure of Jalen Nailor to the Las Vegas Raiders<\/a>. With the NFL<\/a> Draft approaching, they could draft one, or they could head back into free agency and sign a veteran to a manageable contract.<\/p>\n One player who has entered the speculation to help fill that WR3 role is Stefon Diggs. The veteran wideout\u2019s legal trouble is likely why he\u2019s still available as teams see how that process plays out. <\/p>\n Should he resolve the legal problems, contending teams will likely be circling, and FanSided\u2019s Austen Bundy believes that not the Vikings, but the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> are the top landing spot for Diggs. <\/p>\n \u201cDiggs\u2019 first task is to stay out of prison,\u201d Bundy wrote in his article that was published on April 5<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s been charged with multiple felony charges for allegedly assaulting his personal chef, with pretrial proceedings scheduled for this month. <\/p>\n \u201cTeams appear to be steering clear of the 32-year-old until his legal troubles are resolved, but it shouldn\u2019t shock anyone if he lands with a contender at some point down the road. Diggs would be a solid weapon for Lamar Jackson, who currently relies heavily on Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman.\u201d<\/p>\n Vikings Receive Stefon Diggs Take to Fill WR3 Role<\/p>\n While the Ravens are seen as a landing spot for Diggs, if he resolves his legal problems, so are the Vikings. For CBS Sports\u2019 Garrett Podell, bringing back the veteran for a second stint to go behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison would make sense for Minnesota as they are looking to contend in 2026.<\/p>\n \u201cDiggs\u2019 legal trouble is likely why he remains available,\u201d\u00a0Podell wrote in his CBS Sports article published on April 3<\/a>. \u201cHe\u00a0pleaded not guilty<\/a>\u00a0to felony strangulation and other criminal charges following an alleged assault of his personal chef. Diggs\u2019 attorney, Mitchell Schuster, claims his client is \u2018completely innocent.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIf Diggs\u2019 legal process is resolved, a homecoming to the\u00a0Minnesota Vikings<\/a> makes plenty of sense.\u00a0Jalen Nailor\u00a0departed for the\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders\u00a0in free agency, so there\u2019s an opening at Minnesota\u2019s WR3 spot after 2022\u00a0NFL\u00a0Offensive Player of the Year\u00a0Justin Jefferson\u00a0and former first-round pick\u00a0Jordan Addison.\u201d<\/p>\n Diggs, who spent last season with the\u00a0New England Patriots<\/a>, recorded 365 receptions for 4,623 yards and 30 touchdowns in 70 games during his career with the Vikings,\u00a0per StatMuse<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kyler Murray Would Benefit From Having Stefon Diggs<\/p>\n Moreover, Podell believes that Diggs would benefit from being the third option for Minnesota, and giving potential starting QB Kyler Murray three reliable wideout options will provide the Vikings the best opportunity to reach the playoffs in the upcoming 2026 season.<\/p>\n \u201cKevin O\u2019Connell wasn\u2019t the coach in Minnesota when Diggs departed to the\u00a0Buffalo Bills<\/a> via a 2020 trade request, and he needs to get Minnesota back to the playoffs in 2026 after a disastrous 2025 with\u00a0J.J. McCarthy\u00a0at quarterback, \u201c\u00a0Podell wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cProviding Kyler Murray with three high-caliber wideouts would certainly be helpful toward that cause.
