The former third-round pick is rumored to be traded after back-to-back struggling seasons with the team. Wilson never got the chance to live up to his potential, especially in an era led by QB Aaron Rodgers, where the team valued more of the veteran starters. However, that could change under the new leadership of Mike McCarthy, but it shouldn’t be surprising to see the Steelers move on from Wilson.

Injuries stop the young receiver during his rookie campaign, and he’s only hauled in 12 passes during his second stint. With Pittman pairing alongside DK Metcalf, it’s hard to envision that Wilson will ever get a sizeable chance in the Steelers lineup. At the same time, it won’t make sense if the team moves on early from the 2023 NFL Draft pick.

Steelers At “Crossroads” With Former Third-Round Pick Roman Wilson – Trade Likely

Still, a trade could be in the works during this year’s draft. If the Steelers select a receiver early in the first or second round of the draft, many should expect Wilson to be on the hot seat. Luckily for Wilson, he has the potential to turn into a true weapon in a new scenery. There are plenty of destinations where he could thrive, because with McCarthy stepping in and the Steelers wanting to win now, especially if they bring back Rodgers, it wouldn’t make sense to keep Wilson.

The receiver has the frame and abilities to turn on the jets with a team that needs a WR3. Wilson won’t get starting reps elsewhere, but he should get at least more open looks than in Pittsburgh with these three teams.

Top Fits
Dallas Cowboys

This might be the perfect environment for Wilson. While the Cowboys franchised tagged George Pickens, the team could benefit from adding another receiver. They lost Jalen Tolbert in free agency, but they’ve made room for Ryan Flournoy, who’s coming off an exploding 2025 campaign. To avoid disappointment similar to Tolbert, the Cowboys should bring in Wilson as another option in the fold to give Dak Prescott a solid weapon.

He won’t take reps away from Flournoy, but his presence would allow this offense to open up with options to make Prescott’s life easier on the field, especially with KaVontae Turpin in the back end.

Washington Commanders

Meanwhile, the Commanders could be another option, even though they have a crowded receiver room. The team brought back Dyami Brown and signed Van Jefferson for depth behind Terry McLaurin, Luke McCaffrey and Treylon Burks. Washington could swap McCaffrey, who is coming off a season-ending injury, for Wilson since the team is rebuilding a new offense after the firing of Kliff Kingsbury.

Chicago Bears

The Bears need a receiver since they traded DJ Moore to the Bills due to aging and salary cap issues. However, no one should expect Jahdae Walker to invent himself in a WR3 role permanently. Caleb Williams has the skillset to turn anyone into a star, but the Bears should at least bring in a low-risk, high-potential weapon like Wilson. He won’t be no Moore, but it allows Williams to move forward without suffering from a huge loss since their top receivers right now are Luther Burden and Rome Odunze.

After trading for Michael Pittman Jr. this past free agency, the Pittsburgh Steelers might be looking to move…

[2055
4955,741,436,2870,7,467,114345,446,6,835,520,57,2374,2360,4112,426,7186
0":"post-855545","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-pittsburgh-steelers","8":"tag-2026-nfl-draft","9":"tag-chicago-bears-news","10":"tag-dallas-cowboys-news","11":"tag-dk-metcalf","12":"tag-football","13":"tag-george-pickens","14":"tag-lastest-nfl-news","15":"tag-luther-burden-iii","16":"tag-nfl","17":"tag-nfl-news","18":"tag-pittsburgh","19":"tag-pittsburgh-steelers","20":"tag-pittsburgh-steelers-news","21":"tag-pittsburghsteelers","22":"tag-roman-wilson","23":"tag-steelers","24":"tag-terry-mclaurin
["GET
