If Kenyon Green\u2019s NFL<\/a> career is going to get a 2nd life, why not make it with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a>?<\/p>\n NFL reporter Aaron Wilson broke the news that the Buccaneers are bringing in the 6-foot-4, 323-pound former 1st round pick for a workout in the coming days.<\/p>\n \u201cBuccaneers working out former Texans<\/a> first-round guard and starter Kenyon Green<\/a> on Thursday, per NFL source,\u201d Wilson wrote<\/a> on his official X account on Saturday. \u201cGreen, 25, was traded to Eagles last year and later played for Ravens. Former Texas A&M All-American and blue-chip recruit at Atascosita High School.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Green was the No. 15 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft by the Texans, who traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> in exchange for safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson<\/a> and a 2026 6th-round pick in March 2025. He was waived by the Eagles in September and spent the rest of the season on the practice squad for the Baltimore Ravens<\/a>.<\/p>\n Eagles Signaled Kenyon Green Wasn\u2019t in Plans<\/p>\n The Eagles brought Green in to replace recently departed starting guard Mekhi Becton<\/a> after he left in free agency for the Los Angeles Chargers<\/a>, but it became pretty evident early on that the Eagles had soured on the injury-prone Green.<\/p>\n The Eagles turned down the fifth year option on Green\u2019s rookie contract on May 1, denying him what would have been a guaranteed $16.685 million payday in 2026.<\/p>\n \u201cGreen was acquired in March in a trade with the Texans that sent safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to Houston.\u201d\u00a0Pro Football Talk\u2019s Josh Alper<\/a>\u00a0wrote on May 1. \u201cHe missed the 2023 season with a shoulder injury and missed time with injury last season as well. He has started 23 games when healthy, but ended last season on the bench and that makes the Eagles\u2019 decision a fairly unsurprising one.\u201d<\/p>\n Green found himself in almost the same position as Becton did in 2024.<\/p>\n Selected in the first round (No. 11 overall) of the\u00a02020 NFL draft<\/a>\u00a0by the\u00a0New York Jets<\/a> in 2020, Becton was a full-time starter as a rookie but only played 1 game over the 2021 and 2022 seasons with knee injuries. He returned in 2023 to play 16 games but was criticized for his play, and the Jets<\/a> declined his fifth-year option \u2014 leading him into Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman\u2019s open arms.<\/p>\n Becton ended up being 1 of the key pieces for the Eagles on the way to a dominant, Super Bowl-winning season that featured running back and NFL Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley<\/a> becoming just the 9th player in NFL history rush for over 2,000 yards in a single season.<\/p>\n Kenyon Green Got Fresh Start With Philadelphia<\/p>\n Green was part of an exodus of offensive linemen in Houston to the NFC East, with 4-time Pro Bowl left offensive tackle\u00a0Laremy Tunsil<\/a>\u00a0traded to the\u00a0Washington Commander<\/a>s and Green shipped to the Eagles along with a 2026 5th-round pick in exchange for safety C.J.
