The Green Bay Packers<\/a> have been pretty quiet this offseason, much to the chagrin of their fanbase.<\/p>\n

Last year, the Packers rocked the NFL landscape when they acquired edge rusher Micah Parsons in a blockbuster trade just before the season began, so you would think Green Bay would be in win-now mode. Especially considering that the Packers parted with each of their next two first-round draft picks in the deal.<\/p>\n

However, general manager Brian Gutekunst appears to be playing the compensatory pick game, so Green Bay has been largely inactive in free agency as a result.<\/p>\n

But could more additions be coming?<\/p>\n

Gutekunst hinted as a potential move in one particular area, stating that the Packers could be looking for a running back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like our group,\u201d Gutekunst said, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re certainly going to add competition to that room. But I like \u2014 whether it\u2019s MarShawn [Lloyd] as we get him healthy and get him going, [and] Pierre Strong\u2019s there. There\u2019s guys we really like, but I\u2019m sure there will be more competition to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, Josh Jacobs is the lead back for Green Bay, but he struggled for much of 2025, averaging just four yards per carry. He was also banged up for a decent chunk of the campaign.<\/p>\n

In fact, there was even speculation that the Packers could potentially cut Jacobs after the season, but Green Bay has decided to hold on to him.<\/p>\n

The Packers lost Emanuel Wilson to free agency, so it would definitely serve them well to add another piece to their backfield, but it seems more likely that would come via the NFL Draft than Green Bay landing a veteran.<\/p>\n

This year’s running back class is not quite as deep as last year’s, but the Packers should still be able to nab an intriguing player in the later rounds.<\/p>\n

Green Bay is looking to rebound after a disappointing end to the 2025 campaign that saw the team lose out on the NFC North to the Chicago Bears, followed by a loss to the Bears in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.<\/p>\n
