The 2025 NFL Draft<\/a> is over and the process of evaluating each team\u2019s draft class, including the Eagles\u2019<\/a>, is underway. When looking at the 10 players selected by the Eagles, a former general manager and analyst believes they made some strong selections, including first-round pick linebacker Jihaad Campbell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mike Mayock, the former Las Vegas Raiders general manager, appeared on the SportsRadio 94 WIP Afternoon Show<\/a> Monday, saying the Eagles came away with a player who should have been taken much higher.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like just about everything they did,\u201d Mayock said. \u201cI think we anticipated philosophically that they had to go defense, and they did. The first five picks were defense like usual. They kind of get the steal of the first round with Jihaad Campbell who I had going number nine to New Orleans in a mock draft. He\u2019s today\u2019s futuristic off-the-ball inside linebacker.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last season at Alabama, Campbell finished with 112 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and an interception.<\/p>\n

The Eagles use many odd-man fronts that could have Campbell line up on the edge \u2014 forcing quarterbacks to wonder whether he is rushing the passer or dropping into coverage, allowing defensive coordinator Vic Fangio<\/a> to come up with creative pass-rush schemes.<\/p>\n

Mayock was also high on the rest of the selections the Eagles made, including drafting a pair of University of Texas players: safety Andrew Mukuba<\/a> in the second round and offensive lineman Cameron Williams<\/a> in the sixth round.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey got a safety who can also play nickel and they got a couple of laboratory pieces for Stoutland University (offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland<\/a>) who are very talented kids in the sixth round,\u201d Mayock said. \u201cHowie (Roseman)<\/a> pulled off a classic Howie move where in the third round pick 96 they traded down twice. They went from 96 to 111. That\u2019s what, 15, 16 places, effectively half of one round is what they traded down and it netted them three extra draft picks, two this year, one next year. I thought it was a typical high-level Eagles draft.\u201d<\/p>\n
