Philadelphia may soon be at a crossroads with Jalen Hurts. Some recent updates reveal that the Eagles front office is thinking long and hard about a potential extension.<\/p>\n

There has been no shortage of Jalen Hurts stories this offseason. Between possible drama between Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown, reports on frustrations from inside the building, and a swap at offensive coordinator, there is plenty of pressure on the veteran QB. <\/p>\n

With that, the Eagles are not going to rush into any decision anytime soon. Instead, it sounds like they are going to play it slow with Hurts and see if t sort of production comes from the passing game in 2026. <\/p>\n

Eagles are not focused on a new extension for Jalen Hurts<\/p>\n

According to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie in a recent report from Jeff McLane, the Eagles are not currently discussing a new contract with Hurts. <\/p>\n

They are comfortable with his current deal and are waiting to see what happens in the future before making another big-time commitment to the QB. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe never would discuss [negotiations],\u201d Lurie said when asked about Hurts\u2019 deal. \u201cHe\u2019s in the middle of the new contract now.\u201d \u2014 Jeff McLane<\/a><\/p>\n

Pressure is building for the Eagles QB, and even he may know it right now<\/p>\n

McLane also noted that a team source confirmed this sort of sentiment. The organization is on the same page when it comes to the long-term outlook on Hurts, and he has plenty to show in 2026 surrounded by some top end talent on the offense.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018He knows this is the last year of his guaranteed money,\u2019 an Eagles source said. \u2018He knows the cat\u2019s out on some of his baggage. You got to be able to produce. You can\u2019t be near the bottom of the league in passing two years in a row with the amount of talent that we have. It\u2019s not acceptable.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, it will just come down to how Hurts plays this season. The door isn\u2019t closed on a new deal that would keep him in Philly for even longer than his current contract does, but it does feel a bit like the door is slightly ajar rather than wide open. <\/p>\n
