Stellar teammate.<\/p>\n

So what was Tom Brady like on a Super Bowl-winning team? A guy who shared a locker room with Brady might now.<\/p>\n

Despite what fans saw on TV with Brady\u2019s famous intensity or his high standards in practice, where Joe witnessed Brady drop kick a ball onto a separate practice field because of an incompletion, you\u2019d think Brady would be up guys\u2019 rear ends constantly.<\/p>\n

That wasn\u2019t the case said one Brady teammate on the Bucs Super Bowl champs for the 2020 season.<\/p>\n

Retired Bucs legend Lavonte David has been on a media tour in the days in the past two weeks and stopped to visit \u201cBussin\u2019 With the Boys<\/a>,\u201d the podcast co-hosted by David\u2019s former Nebraska teammate Will Compton, a former Titans linebacker, and former Titans Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan.<\/p>\n

Compton wanted to know how often Brady gave locker room speeches. David said only once \u2014 the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

It was at that point David said he knew he was about to play in a landmark Bucs game, as if he didn\u2019t already know.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody else was about to talk,\u201d David said of Brady\u2019s speech just a handful of minutes before kickoff. \u201c[Brady] moved him and just started talking. And everybody was like [David\u2019s face went blank], \u2018Oh, sh!t. Tom\u2019s about to start talking. This is real.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Per David, Brady said, \u201c\u2018This moment, right here, you will be remembered forever. \u2026 Ten years from now we will come back together and celebrate this moment. Your family will remember it forever.’\u201d<\/p>\n

David said Brady\u2019s words were profound at the time because David knew how the football world had ignored him despite his above-the-rim play for what previously was a garbage, inconsequential team for years.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople will know who I am,\u201d David said to himself, thinking about if the Bucs won. \u201cThat\u2019s what I was thinking about.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Brady was finished, David said there was \u201cno doubt\u201d the Bucs would win. Brady pushed the perfect button at the perfect time.<\/p>\n

David described Brady as an elite teammate.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom a guy with his status, with his superstar status, you\u2019d think what comes with that, looking at it from the outside looking in, you [might think], \u2018This guy\u2019s an a-hole, a prima donna who is an egotistical guy,\u2019 David said.\u00a0\u201cBut he was the complete opposite, bro. He\u2019s a guy\u2019s guy. A great dude. \u201c<\/p>\n

Brady would actually sit with teammates and try to get to know them, David said, all the way down to the No. 53 man on the roster.<\/p>\n

As for being a leader, David said Brady didn\u2019t have to talk.<\/p>\n

The way the team saw how Brady practiced at such a high level \u2014 he only wanted to practice against the first-team defense, David said \u2014 those actions spoke louder than words.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Stellar teammate.
