One analyst believes he could make a surprise move back to his original NFL team, naming the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/minnesota-vikings\/\" title=\"Minnesota Vikings\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"216160\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Minnesota Vikings<\/a> as a top landing spot.<\/p>\n<p>Stefon Diggs Could Return to His First NFL City<\/p>\n<p>Garrett Podell of CBS Sports broke down some potential landing spots for the top remaining free agents left this offseason. He noted that Diggs proved in 2025 that he was fully recovered from the knee injury that cut short his 2024 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiggs was an integral piece for the 2025 AFC champions,\u201d Podell wrote. \u201cAt the age of 32 and fresh off a torn ACL, Diggs led the Patriots with 1,013 yards receiving and four touchdowns on 85 catches. His 83.3% catch rate was the second-highest catch rate by a wide receiver in the past 45 seasons, according to CBS Sports Research. Only <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/new-orleans-saints\/\" title=\"New Orleans Saints\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"216159\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Orleans Saints<\/a>\u00a0wide receiver\u00a0Michael Thomas\u2019 85% catch rate in 2018 was higher than what Diggs produced in 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Diggs is facing the uncertainty of felony charges related to an alleged assault on a former personal chef, Podell noted that if the legal process is resolved, \u201ca homecoming to the Minnesota Vikings makes plenty of sense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Diggs was drafted by the Vikings in 2015, spending his first five seasons there before being traded to the Bills in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Diggs\u2019 legal process is resolved, a homecoming to the Minnesota Vikings makes plenty of sense,\u201d Podell wrote. \u201cJalen Nailor departed for the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/las-vegas-raiders\/\" title=\"Las Vegas Raiders\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"216157\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> in free agency, so there\u2019s an opening at Minnesota\u2019s WR3 spot after 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Justin Jefferson and former first-round pick Jordan Addison.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Diggs may harbor some bad feelings toward the Vikings after they traded him to the Bills, Podell noted that the team is under an entirely new regime and trying to recover from a \u201cdisastrous\u201d season in 2025 with J.J.
