The Cleveland Browns<\/a> stunned the NFL a year ago when they traded down from the second overall pick in the 2025 draft.<\/p>\n

They likely won’t be able to pull off quite a stunner this time around, but they could still be busy.<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell wonders in a new article<\/a> on Monday if the Browns would make sense as a trade partner with the Dallas Cowboys<\/a> on draft night to move some picks around.<\/p>\n

His suggestion sends picks 12 and 20 from the Cowboys, along with a 2027 second-round pick, to the Browns.<\/p>\n

Cleveland would in return send picks 6 and 24, along with a 2027 fifth-rounder.<\/p>\n

For the cost of one move down, the Browns get a big upgrade in the promising 2027 draft class.<\/p>\n

“The Browns aren’t in asset accrual mode as they were during the Sashi Brown era, but they’re approaching this draft with an eye on adding more premium picks, especially if the picks land in 2027,” Barnwell writes. “Assuming the Browns don’t draft a quarterback with one of their early selections in 2026, the target for Cleveland’s long-term answer under center would be in the 2027 class. The Browns have their own picks on Days 1 and 2 next year, which helps, but adding a second-round pick in that draft would add extra flexibility if general manager Andrew Berry needed to move up to get his guy.”<\/p>\n

It’s definitely logical for the Browns to add assets for next year if they believe that’s the QB draft class they want.<\/p>\n

It also takes advantage of a Cowboys team that surely wouldn’t mind making a splash with a draft night trade.<\/p>\n

The build is far from over in Cleveland, and this seems like a deal that would be worth it if it ended up on the table.<\/p>\n
