In all, the Browns lost 26 games in the past two seasons. Which all means heads would roll. To say that it was a problem would be an understatement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">So, this offseason, Browns GM Andrew Berry went to work to help solve the issues with these two groups. In all, Berry signed four offensive linemen in free agency and one receiver. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawgsbynature.com\/cleveland-browns-free-agency\/120178\/browns-free-agency-get-to-know-new-kr-wr-tylan-wallace\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WR Tylan Wallace was hired more as a return man<\/a> than to assist the receiver room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">That means this group is still in a bad situation. What is left is to take at least two capable bodies in the upcoming NFL draft, slated for April 23-25. Cleveland owns the #6 and #24 slots in the first round, and then selects towards the top in Rounds 2-4, plus the very first pick in Round 5.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">An offensive tackle has been the most predicted position for both first-round selections. But there have been many mock drafts that give Cleveland a stud receiver at either the #6 or the #24 spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawgsbynature.com\/2024\/3\/4\/24087092\/browns-history-corey-coleman-mental-health-cleveland\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RELATED: COREY COLEMAN INTERVIEW<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The last time the Browns selected a wide receiver in the first round was Corey Coleman out of Baylor with the 15th pick in the 2016 draft.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The most mocked receiver is Carnell Tate (6\u2019-3\u201d, 195 pounds) of Ohio State, who is a terrific player. He has all the tools to be one of the starting outside receivers in 2026 or take the WR1 label with elite efficiency from the perimeter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Tate has excellent ball tracking with zero drops this past season, with natural hands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Another receiver tied to the Browns with the #6 pick is Jordyn Tyson (6\u2019-2\u201d, 203 pounds) of Arizona State. Tyson has 4.5 speed and knows how to get open. He will sell his vertical before breaking underneath.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Tyson tracks the ball just like a centerfielder. His alignment flexibility is a plus. However, there is another guy who isn\u2019t getting much love regarding the Browns selecting him with the sixth overall spot: WR Makai Lemon of USC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">NFL draft sites ranking average of the projected first-round receivers as follows:<\/p>\n<p>#9 \u2013 Tate#12 &#8211; Lemon#13 \u2013 Tyson#24 \u2013 Omar Cooper (Indiana)#27 &#8211; KC Concepci\u00f3n (Texas A&amp;M)#28 &#8211; Denzel Boston (Washington)<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Going against the grain, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/draft2026\/story\/_\/id\/46149416\/2026-nfl-draft-rankings-top-prospects-position#wr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Matt Miller of ESPN has Lemon ranked as his top receiver<\/a>. He explained:<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup _1teeyfa8 ls9zuh1\">\u201c(Lemon) is my top-ranked wide receiver in the class, who goes to the Browns, who are undergoing a youth movement at the skill positions. Lemon can create space for himself and knows how to vary his routes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The majority of NFL draft sites and Browns podcasts have Tate listed as the highest-ranked receiver on the board. Lemon is ranked second. And Tate has played a handful more games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Lemon isn\u2019t getting any love for his production. The bonus is that he is a return man.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The kicker is the number of yards gained per season for both players. Tate has 264, 733, and 875 this past season. Lemon\u2019s numbers for the same seasons are 88, 764, and 1,156. Lemon has the advantage in the final two years when both players were now starting receivers for their respective teams.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">And who won the Biletnikoff Award for the nation\u2019s best receiver? Lemon.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown of Lemon\u2019s assets:<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Route running: 90% &#8211; Will work cornerbacks out of position with excellent cuts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Hands: 92% &#8211; Lemon\u2019s hands are stupid good. He has three drops in 175 targets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Short receiving: 93% &#8211; Finds the soft spots like he is reading the coverage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Intermediate routes: 94% &#8211; Attacks the ball and adjusts his route mid-route.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Deep Threat: 96% &#8211; Snaps off breaks without losing speed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Ball tracking: 95% &#8211; One of Lemon\u2019s best traits. He uses this to gain real separation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Blocking: 65% &#8211; Blocks with intent, not just effort.
