And, as ESPN’s Bill Barnwell proposed, what if they dealt that pick to the Dallas Cowboys?

In Barnwell’s trade proposal between the Jets and Cowboys, Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn would land a fourth 2027 first-rounder to go with a lot of other premium picks.

Jets trade idea involves wild Cowboys trade-down

“Cowboys get: 1-2, 2027 fifth-round pick. Jets get: 1-12, 4-112, 2027 first-round pick, 2027 third-round pick,” Barnwell proposed.

This massive trade would have the Jets moving down from No. 2 overall to No. 12 overall while recouping some significant value.

The 112th pick, along with a 2027 first and third round pick from the Cowboys, would be a huge return for the Jets to move down from No. 2 overall.

While they would miss out on a lot of the top players in the draft class, especially the best defensive players, they should still be within range for a top wide receiver, or a falling defensive standout.

But that’s not all. They would still have their 16th, 33rd, and 44th draft picks to go with their fourth 2027 first-round pick and an extra third-rounder as well.

More: Aaron Glenn believes Geno Smith can lead Jets to ‘the promised land’

This move would give the Jets a ton of ammo next year, enough to give the Jets the chance to land a top-tier quarterback in a trade-up if necessary, or swing a big trade or two with their abundance of first-rounders.

And if they wanted to use all of those picks, the Jets would have six first-round picks over the next two years, along with multiple picks on Day 2.

Mougey has been making a lot of smart moves lately, and this one could be one of his best. Even though they’d lose out on a lot of talent, there are still plenty of good players to be available with the 12th pick for the Jets in this year’s class if they made this move.

Barnwell’s idea would be a stunning one, but for the Jets, it could set them up for a massive 2027 NFL Draft while still keeping two first-rounders and two second-rounders in the 2026 NFL Draft.

More Jets news:

[2051
7,226,1917,255,2321,2097,6
0":"post-856944","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york-jets","8":"tag-football","9":"tag-jets","10":"tag-new-york","11":"tag-new-york-jets","12":"tag-newyork","13":"tag-newyorkjets","14":"tag-nfl
["GET
