There was a lot of controversy before the 2025 season about whether he would regain his eligibility, and it obviously worked out. He was the backbone of Indiana’s well-coached defense and displayed it with his high awareness in all aspects of the game. He is best used as a deep-zone safety who can fly up in the run game to make tackles.

Moore flies around the field to fit the run and shows no fear when taking on a bigger running back. He can make tackles moving laterally or head-on. On this play, he flies across the field to make a tackle to prevent an explosive play.

In man coverage, Moore will struggle because of his limited hip flexibility. He is a quick mover downhill but lacks lateral speed, which hurts him against speedy receivers. I would not trust him 1v1 with a receiver in the NFL because of the lack of change of direction and inability to get collisions, which I think is key for a safety in off-man coverage.

This problem with not getting collisions shows up in the zone as well, and on this play, he gives up an explosive.

While Moore is mostly good in deep zone coverage, he has some issues. There are times when he gets a lot of depth to be the true centerfielder of the defense, which allows quarterbacks to fit intermediate throws over the linebackers and underneath him.

This problem can be coached up, but it is concerning that he is 25 years old and does not understand this.

In the red zone, I wish Moore had better eyes for seeing backside receivers.

He is put in a tough spot on this play, but he chooses to fly down and cover up the underneath crosser. Meanwhile, the deeper crosser scores a touchdown, and Moore doesn’t see him.

Moore finishes plays with great ball skills, gets physical at the catch point, and uses aggressive hands to knock balls away from receivers. On this play, he speedily drives downhill for an interception in the Big 10 Championship.

CONCLUSION

Louis Moore is a fun player because of his quick play recognition and trigger to get downhill, but his age is hard to ignore. If he were even 22 years old, people would be talking about him getting drafted on Day 2, but a 25-year-old prospect with man coverage flaws will be hard to talk teams into.

I think he can be a solid player immediately. But his best football may be right now, so teams will not have him in his prime for a while.

NFL Projection: Mid-Day 3
Steelers Depot Grade: 7.1 (Spot Starter)
Grade Range: 6.2-7.5
Games Watched: vs Ohio State (Big 10 Championship) (2025), vs Alabama (Playoffs) (2025), vs Oregon (Playoffs) (2025), vs Miami (CFP Championship) (2025)

From now until the 2026 NFL Draft, we will scout and create profiles for as many prospects as…

[2055
4955,92923,7,932,63691,6,520,57,2360,426
0":"post-857160","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-pittsburgh-steelers","8":"tag-2026-nfl-draft","9":"tag-2026-nfl-draft-profiles","10":"tag-football","11":"tag-indiana","12":"tag-louis-moore","13":"tag-nfl","14":"tag-pittsburgh","15":"tag-pittsburgh-steelers","16":"tag-pittsburghsteelers","17":"tag-steelers
["GET
